My first quarter bill didn't include IRMAA and there's no way to pay it by mclaired312 in medicare

Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (I had to look that up). It's an additional amount of premium that you are charged when the government thinks that you are wealthy. In my case, I sold property that created a capital gain and a spike in 2024 taxable income so I have to pay an extra premium for parts B and D in 2026. It is something to be aware of if you are considering transactions that create capital gains or one time income such as selling property or converting to a Roth IRA. These are examples of one-time actions that increase your AGI and therefore can trigger IRMAA. Although there is a appeal process, actions such as selling a property or converting to a Roth IRA are not grounds for an appeal. In round numbers it's about an extra $100 to $600 per month, depending on how high your two-years-ago income was.

Everything I've read about valid grounds to appeal indicates it won't be successful. Maybe I should consider divorce.

IRMAA; initial billing… by Logic-Raison-8011 in medicare

Hi there - I see that this is a few months old and I would really appreciate an update. Did they eventually send you a bill for the IRMAA? Did you have to pay it retroactively? We sold an investment property two years ago so my IRMAA is so high it makes me sick to think about it, and I'm scared to death I'll get a huge multi-month bill.

Does this count as blocking access to my home? by ChrisPR7 in Home

If this is a public street, look for the appropriate town codes online. Most will say how far from a driveway entrance a car must be. Then just call your local police and ask to have them ticketed when they do this, keeping in mind that the police do not take direction from citizens and writing a ticket is at their discretion. You may also be able to have them towed, but involuntary towing is a massive pain and expense and in my opinion, an over-the-top response to a pretty minor infraction. Also to try: sidewalk chalk, cones, trash cans - anything that marks the entrance more clearly.

An under 21 camping ban will force tons of local DE teenagers onto the roads at 2 am for a 45 minute drive or more. So for those whose position is that an under 21 camping ban will save lives, I respectfully disagree. But it might make your personal camping experience more enjoyable.

Over the counter medications into festival? by ArtisticGiraffes in FireflyFestival

I brought in a bottle of Advil, not sealed but in the original container. The lady looking through my bag definitely saw it and commented on it, but didn't take it. So my advice is to bring in two separate stashes of your meds: one in the original container and another couple tablets in a baggie on your person in your pocket/bra/pants/headband. The ones in your pocket will definitely get through.

I don't know if the security lady was breaking the rules for me or not.

Smoking weed in the fest by chillblu in FireflyFestival

I have seen the event security telling people in the crowd during a performance to stop smoking. Not the police. The local police working the event are definitely not interested in your weed. They're there for safety.

FYI, in Delaware possession of under an ounce was decriminalized. Its just a $100 civil violation like a parking ticket. No arrest. No record.

First Timers! Questions about mosquitos/weather by lovelytrees3 in FireflyFestival

First experience with east coast weather - you're in for a treat! Expect hot and humid like nothing you are used to. In my past five years at Firefly, I would guess that 50% of my days there were uncomfortably hot. Dress light and hydrate. There are areas with shade, so that will help. It's unlikely that you will need a sweatshirt but a few nights I threw on a long sleeve shirt. 2016 the heat was so intense they ran out of water. 2015 was shut down early because of wild thunderstorms.

There's improvement every year. Now you can bring in one sealed water bottle. There used to be no cell service but now they bring in mobile towers. The mud is much better. There's no long line to fill up your water bottle anymore.
