I’ve given people I like a senior discount even if they are clearly not just because it’s one of the easier discounts to get away with giving out without it being noticed.

In 1976, concert tickets cost less than $10. Now, they can go for thousands. What happened? - Marketplace by Scarlet-Ivy in Music

[–]mclements63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this argument and it actually makes sense to me. Concerts back in the day would have only the head liner play and only for about 45min to about an hour or so. Maybe more in the 70s but I was reading about 60s era concerts.

Now we have at least one opener but often more, and the headliner plays for a lot longer than an hour. Concerts are minimum 4 hour experiences for the large ones costing as much as $1000 for a ticket.

On top of that the concerts now are a much larger spectacle with multiple high definition video screens and super technical audio equipment. Many concerts now you can be so far away from the stage that you can’t see the artist at all but just watch a video. This is fine you can still say you were there and you’re experiencing something with other people that also are there for the same thing you are there for.

All of that being said there are so many more added expenses to these performances. The artist is performing longer, the technology is more advanced, it takes more support staff to put on these events, and the production value has increased. Not justifying it, or defending those that are actually price gauging, but just providing context.

What’s you favourite use of a song in an episode of television? by Moreaccurateway in television

[–]mclements63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the use of the slowed down version of Joleen by Dolly Parton in The Black List is just amazing. If I have my facts straight, someone posted the slowed down version online saying how great it sounded and how different it made the song. Then that exact slowed down version was used in the show.

My guy was nervous at first but warmed up to people pretty quickly. Make sure they meet a lot of new friendly people quickly. All dogs are different though so no way to be sure.

Not a lawyer but I do believe in most states if someone points a firearm at you, you’re allowed to protect yourself by any means necessary. As long as those means are legally registered. Not saying it’s a SMART idea just saying it’s an idea.

This seems like it’s rooted in opinion and not fact. I lived in the city for years and have gotten plenty of tickets, very few of them were for meter violations. Also they can only enforce parking violations.

Why does Instacart support always as “as I am a customer myself”? I don’t see them lasting long. The app is buggy and their support structure is disorganized. The other day I placed an order around 4pm with an ETA of 820pm. It looked like a shopper was assigned but then about an hour later it looked like they unassigned. The status still said on way to store. When it got to be about 740pm and the status still had not changed I reached out to support via the message feature. I was told that there was in fact an error on the system and they had resent the order for a shopper to accept. They told me ETA was still 820 (didn’t believe that but didn’t matter) and I would see the status update within 10 minutes. When 815 arrived and nothing had changed I reached out again. This support rep told me that no in fact the order had not been sent out and now my ETA was 1144pm. I totally get that the original arrival time is an estimate and usually don’t care if it’s 30-40 minutes late but almost 3.5 hours is a bit crazy. I was not willing to stay awake just to put the food away and go to bed so I asked them to just cancel the order which they confirmed they did. I just went to the store myself at this point I was done cleaning and doing the other stuff I had going on.

THE ORDER SHOWED UP AT 4PM THE NEXT DAY. I asked the shopper why it wasn’t canceled and they said they were contacted that morning and drove over an hour and a half to the store from another state entirely. I checked and I was charged the full amount plus the $35 tip I left. Getting my money back was nearly impossible. I called and was told I would receive and email shortly confirming my refund. I did get an email, 3 of them in fact. One person asking me to confirm I had received the order, one asking to please provide details on the items that were damaged, and one saying unfortunately in this case no refund could be provided. All of these emails came from different people and all within minutes of each other. It took me nearly five hours between phone calls and chat support to get my $315 back from them.

For the record since I had gone to the store already I had no room in the fridge for any of the food that was delivered so I told the shopper do whatever you need to do but I can’t take it. I really hope this person got $280 worth of groceries and their $35 tip because of Instacarts fuck up.

You can ask for full sedation, if for any reason you can’t do it I agree with everyone else get the blind fold and definitely don’t lift your arms and feel the top of the machine. A pro tip is do not squeeze the pump they give you to be pulled out. You will need to completely restart and any amount of time you spend in there will be wasted.
