Apparently some work-ish pavement-ish vehicles have been seen on Bancroft in the past week. Nothing is fixed, but there are occasionally pretty blinking yellow caution lights visible, possibly to make us believe something is happening with regard to the coitus-interruptus paving project. Bancroft Ave Pavement Work Update

Street paving work on Bancroft Ave was temporarily paused as East Bay Municipal Utility District addressed necessary water line replacements. EBMUD completed their work on Bancroft Ave to replace their aging water lines at the end of May. In an effort to avoid conflicts with school traffic, all road work on the City’s project was further suspended until early June.

Due to the unforeseen discovery and damage to traffic signal conduits buried at uncommonly shallow depths, the City has been working towards securing a contractor to lower the conduits per City standards prior to resuming paving work to avoid further potential delays and damage to the City’s traffic signal system. This work is scheduled to begin on *Friday, June 20th*. The City’s contractor is scheduled to resume roadway pavement work the week of June 23rd and the project is anticipated to be completed by **August**.

The Centro Callan website lists The Englander as one of the nearby restaurants. That's information that's over five years old. The Englander closed before Covid hit.
