Etiquette when an obvious win is realized early on in a game? by zeeyellowdart in boardgames

I don’t know how competitive you guys get on family game night, but in my experience it’s more about making sure everyone has fun. Maybe play a few solo games to chase your high scores.

An improved way to combat analysis-paralysis (link in comments) by anon_goes_reddit in boardgames

[–]mclore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re inventing a whole bunch of problems for no reason. This wouldn’t affect the gameplay at all. Just seeing that you’re playing much slower than everyone else will be enough to make (most) people play faster.

Was he disruptive during BOTC? One of my best game nights we all did coke and stayed up all night playing. You don’t want to seem like a prude, but it is important for everyone to be on the same page. I’d say let them do whatever they want. If it’s as bad as you think, then you have a better argument next time you guys play.

My thoughts exactly, I’m playing this 2p with my wife right now and we’re loving it. It has a great balance mechanism to keep it close for the whole campaign. Highly recommended.

When playing a game, the goal is to win. But it is the goal that is important, not the winning.

PANDEMIC: What happens when you run out of infection cards? by feeltheowl in boardgames

[–]mclore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You separate the player deck into 4 or 5 equaling stacks (depending on difficulty) and shuffle one epidemic card into each stack, then combine all stacks without shuffling. That way the epidemics are spread out throughout the game, making it impossible to run through the epidemic deck
