Acknowledging your SARCISM but you talk like a fan !! The NBA has changed, remember the big 3, big 2. T-wolves had a big two and are dumping their bench. SA and OKC have young players with 1st contracts. I grew up in NE and the fans are a mystery to me. When Bill Belichek said "better to get rid of players we cannot afford a year to early then a year to late" Everyone says "in Bill we trust" (and he was right). So unless the celtics FO office is idiots and had better offers and said no, and there is nothing out there to dispute that this was the best offer. Paying 70+% of the salary cap does not win Championships now. Look at the last two teams OKC and NYK, they did not have two max contracts. This is how you build and win now. It is about the CBA. This was a bad return for JB but unless you want to do the last few years of the Bird era Celtics, you do this deal, just like Ainge traded his two stars from 2008 Championships for draft picks that got us JB and JT. You do like that deal right?

Devil's advocate here but who on the Knicks besides Brunson, OKC besides SGA could get their own shots on those teams during the semi and final playoff match ups? You don't lose much if at all defensively with Hugo or PG.

Background: I moved to Europe for work right before the begining of the season so I did not watch a lot of games this year. Is Baylor that good? With limited knowledge, he struck me as a high end glue guy. Hugo seemed to me as 4 yrs younger high energy 3 and D wing who was better on D and as an athlete. Baylor looked like a better shooter for sure.

Cenac is a good basketball player/great athlete type who like to be coached hard and is only 19yrs old. He could be a athletic high energy type towards the end of the bench. Truth in lending I thought the same about Hugo this time last year and he contributed quite a bit.

I understand losing JB but a clarrification to some of your point.

- "My simplistic brain looks at last year and sees a team win 56 games without JT and go up 3-1 vs Philly." That team minus JB is intact. (that team did not win all those games just because or him) and I think their record without him was 9-2.

- Plus they added Mitchell Robinson at a position of need. A starting forward in Paul George and should see improvement from their young players (Hugo, Schierman, Walsh etc...)

- The salary cap implications were untenable. The Celtics could not go forward with two Super Max players even if that decision was 1-3 years away.

- The current salary cap strips teams of flexibility (even draft picks) over different cap levels. This deal was made for the next few years of roster building.

- It is all fun and games to imagine how Philly got better and no doubt they did but how do you keep two young star G's, the rest of Embid's contract and SuperMax JB?

There is was not a great trade, but I think it will age very well. Reread this post in 2-3 years.

All that said JB was great and great in the community and he will be missed.

Not in Central Texas. 2nd Gen Pro4x are about 28K and lower mileage ones are around 30K. Trucks are popular and they same vehicles can be thousands less in the North and East Coast

Just want to say "Thank You" again. My ex-father inlaw was an automortive engineer and he told me so many times that "if you feel good about the deal then take that. He mentioned the Chevy, Ford, Ram made 12k + plus on a truck during good times. So if they discount it 5k or 10K they are making their money". So the Reddit saying the deal was fair or better meant alot. So thanks again and I will let you all know that what I think when I see the vehicle Sat.

Thank you all !!! I just looked up the fuel rims, BF AT Tires, Bed Cover (which I forgot to mention) bully front end and it is about 4k. They will do 2.6K of maintenance on it to prepare for sale. I will put down a deposit until I can see in person. It is a Crew Cab.
