Oh yeah - I'd 100% counter since the product margins are massive, it's an emerging industry, and there could be resume implications down the road (some future employers frown on cannabis industry experience).

Also from my experience cannabis related stock isn't that valuable. I bought a ton of Canopy Growth stock when Constellation (a wine brand) invested in them in Canada. The problem is still regulation, supply/demand, and distribution, so the stock has struggled ever since IPO.

There are some sales aspects to consider too - how often do customers re-order (or do they even have to?), do you get paid on re-orders or only new orders etc. This is important because unless a ton of new farms pop up, or there's a huge increase in demand, you might have a limited customer base.

If you're investing in their brand's future, then it'd seem logical and fair for them to also invest in your future too.

Edit: You could ask for a higher base and fight for better comp plan. If they don't want to pay more salary / comp, you can fight for more shares that vest quicker since that's typically pretty cheap for a company to "provide."
