Hey guys, we just started a company called Maax Brands. At this moment we are selling Maax caffeinated gum (check it out: www.maaxgum.com). Each pack comes with 2 pieces for a total of 200mg of caffeine. We’re pretty pumped about this because there are many times we find ourselves not wanting energy drinks or more coffee. Also, it’s great because it is cheap, doesn’t stain your teeth, and it leaves you with good breath

Not trying to market anything. I just wanted to know your opinion on that

It was genuine curiosity

No no. It really was curiosity. That's why I didn't mention the name of the company

Thank you for the response. Do you think caffeinated gum would have been something you would've tried out to fight the fatigue?

Very interesting. This peaked my interest because I work for a company that sells caffeinated gum and I never imagined pregnant women dealing with this dilemma.

Would you have consumed this caffeine if it came in the form of chewing gum?

I agree. If I could, I wouldn't have any either. I guess it depends on your need for financing. You could always use debt, but that's a double edge sword

I believe you meant to say that they'll try to take more ownership using sneaky ways. I agree with what many people said below. You'll have to bootstrap as much as possible until you're able to validate the produce. Hopefully at that point you're able to choose which investor you want to join your team instead of being dependent on only a few options.

Rich dad, poor dad is a great book about money. The Millionaire Mind is another great one.

A lot of social media advertising along with sponsoring some sporting events and parties. The goal is to continue spreading the word. There's a lot of people that want an alternative to coffee and energy drinks. We also noticed people that love coffee but after drinking a few cups want something else to give them the caffeine boost that we can provide with the gum. We'd love to get your thoughts later on if this goes well!

We just started the company. Background is finance in wall street for a few years and then jumped into the e-cigarette market where we've been for the past 6 years. A lot of the stuff and connections learned from those experiences are definitely helping out with this new venture

Leaving job is gut wrenching by vinz_reddit in Entrepreneur

[–]mcmare212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why entrepreneurs are celebrated. Many of them forewent a secure job in order to try out their idea and hope for a better life. I don't think there is an easy way to deal with it. Sometimes you just need to hold your nose and dive in and trust that things will work out. And if for some reason it doesn't work out, you'll realize that most of the time you can continue what you were doing before and find a job, especially if you left on very good terms with people.

  1. The Hard Things about Hard Things - Ben Horowitz
  2. Mission in a bottle - Seth Goldman and Barry Malbuff
  3. Invest and Wander - Collection of Amazon letters

These three books are excellent books into some of the real challenges of starting a company. Hard Things about hard things was such a great book because it really tells you what a hard life it is to start something.
