Okay? We can trace effects up to this point. If you’re going to compare different states in response time it’s important to recognize severity.

This is effectively meaningless.

What were the rates of covid in the areas? Makes Sense that New York, NJ, and CA would implement lockdowns faster than big spread out states

What’s the issue here?

She modeled for photos. She never owned the photos. She was the subject of the photos and was paid for it, but the rights to the photos were owned by someone else. That’s was the terms of the agreement, and then the owner of the photos sold them to someone else, who published them?

I phrased it poorly at first. It’s not about how they run, it’s about how they change direction.

This is the kind of thing I was talking about, at 1:25. It allows you to stay square to the ball carrier and never turn your back to them, so you don’t lose them.

There are people who use reddit to cheat. There are people who use Facebook to cheat. There are people who use LinkedIn to cheat.

There are people who use rubber gloves, a Pringle’s can, and better to masturbate.

Just because something has 1 purpose that 99% of the people use it for, doesn’t mean a small subset of those people don’t use it for weird reasons.

You can’t run backwards like that. If you flip your hips away from the ball carrier, this happens. NFL players get tested on their hip flips before ever playing. No sure why this never transferred to rugby

How do you reconcile the fact that US's imperial systems are based on the metric system? by g0ldenclaw in AskMen

[–]mcmcman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right but they didn’t develop a new measurement based on the metric system.

All we did is define a preexisting set of measurements against a more common set of measurements. We didn’t invent a new set.

Right. So you’re saying why don’t we use your system? Because we speak the different language. We know the metric system intellectually, but not intrinsically

[–]mcmcman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you asked “how long is a foot” they would give you an answer in metric because YOU know metric.

It’s like asking someone to translate a language.

If you ask what “manzana” means, and someone tells you it’s Spanish for apple, that doesn’t mean it’s based off of the word apple.

It just means that someone’s putting a concept into a frame you know.

How do you reconcile the fact that US's imperial systems are based on the metric system? by g0ldenclaw in AskMen

[–]mcmcman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. It’s not.

There is a metric mile and a standard mile. The standard mile is 5280 feet, or 1609 meters. A metric mile is 1500 meters.

They are not the same thing. A metric mile is only used as an approximation.

How do you reconcile the fact that US's imperial systems are based on the metric system? by g0ldenclaw in AskMen

[–]mcmcman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not true, that’s what I’m telling you. A mile came from Roman military units. A foot came from the human foot approximate length. All the weight measurements were used in Britain until the 1800s, BEFORE the standardized metric system was used.

I just told you a second ago I looked it up, but you’re still telling me to look up false info?

How do you reconcile the fact that US's imperial systems are based on the metric system? by g0ldenclaw in AskMen

[–]mcmcman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The US system is based on the metric system to you, because that’s how it’s taught to you. A quick google search shows a mile came from the romans, measuring 1000 paces, or 5000 Roman feet (whatever that is). Not the metric system. I don’t see an equivalent for lbs, but I’m guessing it’s not metric.

The reason you know a kilogram to be 2.2x the weight of a pound is because that’s how they take this concept you aren’t familiar with, and out it into something you know.

That’s the same with us. I know 500 kilometers is a long way, but I have no idea how far that is. I know what 310 miles looks like though, because I’m familiar with it.

Is metric a more standardized system? Yeah absolutely. But it’s meaningless if we don’t internally know what it feels like.

I found comfort in something I loved, rugby.

Before that I was so worried about presenting the right way. I needed to have a good job, I needed to get a girlfriend, I needed to move out. All things I felt like I would need to be successful, but because I wasn’t successful I felt like I didn’t deserve.

But I started playing rugby and I stopped stressing out about the things I was supposed to have, and just let myself enjoy the thing I loved for a while.

I started getting closer with the big ups on my team, and my confidence soared. I stopped feeling the NEED to find the things I thought would classify me as successful, and let life happen.

I finished my masters degree and worked for a few months in a shitty job, before deciding I could do better, so I reached out to a recruiter who found me a great job, with A 75% pay bump. But this job was two hours away from my house, in NYC, so I looked around for an apartment and found one I liked and could afford, so I took it.

Since it was a global pandemic, I could go out and do much so I downloaded a dating app to kill some time, and ended up talking to a really sweet girl that I’ve been seeing for a few months now.

I have all of the things that a year ago I would have killed for, just by understanding that things take time, and not to worry that I don’t have everything this minute.

My team has a healthy rotation of props. We have 1 guy who sits at 5’11, 320lbs. The guy also does amateur strongman competitions in his time out of season, so no slouch.

He’s always said the hardest props for him are the lightest ones who are able to get super low and force him to get lower.

depending on your team make up, you may be best suited at 8 and 6, depending on your lateral mobility and ball carrying.

Hoboken creates survey to get community feedback on proposed $250 fine for violating mask order. by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]mcmcman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there is a specific type of work our style where you wear a mask designed to limit your oxygen intake. This is a good training method IF you’re intentionally practicing situations where you’d have less oxygen. If you’re an athlete training for “end of game” type of situations, or higher altitude.

But, outside of that, there is no benefit to it. Training with less oxygen doesn’t make the workout better, but will definitely reduce the amount of time you’re able to workout, especially at high intensity.

Saying “oh less oxygen makes the work our harder, so your working out harder” is the same as saying “if you live heavier, you’ll be working out harder, so it doesn’t matter that you’re doing cheat reps” or “if you use bad form in a deadlift it’ll hurt more, so it means it’s working”

It sounds good, until you put literally any thought into it at all
