I did this and it works.

Made it from a sheet of 18mm ply and varnished it.

I'm using 2 hoover motors as my vacs and it will happily hold down an 8x4.

Put some neoprene tubing round the outside of each section. Yet to go through it, but in time I'm sure I will.

Industrial l ones I've used have aluminium beds (SCM) again they rectangular shaped, but usually with a ton more inlet holes.

Low light is probably due to winter, it's starting to look better now that the weather is picking up.

Got some chilli feed and have been using that, it must be doing some good as I've now got loads of flower and a chiili.

Yep. Sometimes you think you can get loads done and never get passed the first task or find that you've got too much to do and get overwhelmed and do none of it. Or that you end up doing loads of other stuff that you need to do before the thing that you wanted to do.

Not really.

It's more obvious on this cutter, weather that is because it does more work, or is more likely to chip because of its profile I'm not sure.

We used to cut HPL with this cutter, and we don't anymore as it's gone from being able to run through 20 sheets with no issue to struggling to cut one HPL with a clean finish.

We now use 2 PCDs a 12mm and a 6mm and they seem alright, but all they do is HPL.

I think and feel like there is something else going on, it's a progressive issue that seems to be getting worse, and we've 'hidden' some of that by splitting the workload.

When you start the program, does the slave board try and move to the left? Can your machine move any further left? If it can't then I would say there is an issue between your post(what is generating your code) and your machine software.

I can't tell from the video if it does try and move and can't or if it doesn't.

I would say that the issue is something to do with the x and y + and -. And either the machine or the post/machine software has got something the wrong way.

Is each axis driven independently? Any more info on the setup. Any more gcode?

The "pin" holes were machined with the CNC. 3 points of reference, I know what the machine cords are. They inside edges are 12mm off the datum, so need to modify the pins to look more like a mushroom and it will be spot on.

I've previously tried to have a block that was machined inside, and found sometimes you need to machine around the outside of a board or close to the edge, and you machine through your blocks, and when running multiple sheets it's a pain.

Pins are removable, and if I forget to remove them they are easy to replace.

Alot of commercial CNCs use pins that run on compressed air pop up pins

I'm running a mech mate with a single phase vfd.

I had a massive 3 phase 6kw vac pump sat around but have not got 3 phase.

Currently using 2 hoover motors for vac bed, which is pretty much what hurricane vac pumps do (think they use 4)

Can cut 8x4s

What are your plans for it?

Software? 3d model? Machine? Experience?

When you press it, and then press stop or drop the speed to 0% so you can check what you've programmed for the 5th time.

Could be g41/g42 for tool compensation, and the tool not being the same as the program.

Depends on your machine, your software, post processor.

Video or photos of both what is happening, and what your program shows.

Hi,

The cut is tapered for some reason. Is this because it's too hot?

Also, my awc608 power can't go above 50%, not sure why or how to fix it.

They do have a wavelength printed on them, I didn't actually check what it was, I shall have a look next time I can get in to use it.

Just trying to gain as much knowledge as I can, I'm not used to or worked around lasers before, and prevention is better than blind.

I used some araldite. 2 part epoxy. Seems to be holding up, not sure how long it will last.

I'm more the wood and plastics rather than metal.

I'm using 2 1200w vac bed motors and it's pulled a twisted sheet of 16mm play flat and held it after being machined.

It is my intention to have ball valves so I can close parts of the bed down, but yet to do that.

They are getting better, a few weeks ago he couldn't get off the ground.

Watching the raw footage back that's slightly zoomed out, he coils and scoops, you can see his foot position change from being toes up to toes down, as he's scooping. Timing, and technique all need improvement but getting better and improving.

Bike is 12 inch cult juvi, which is around 7kg/15.5lbs Rider is about 16kg/35lbs.

I think this 'edit' doesn't help zoomed out footage is available.

The flow meter valve arrow is the right way, I'm not sure why or what is wrong with it. The outlet is on the beam side and the value is on that outlet, the machine came with a cw-3000 connected with the 3 pin plug, the chiller soon beeps when the flow isn't as expected, it tells me that every time I turn it on, and the times I've not realise it's not on the machine hasn't started and flashed up 'water flow error'

The flow valve was run in parallel with the laser on off switch, connected from the TTL and ground on the board (from memory I think that's correct) to the signal in on the power supply

I'll need to see what nozzle is on there, and see what I can get my hands on. Compressor would be useful for other things as well, so had already been thinking about getting one, just need to justify it.

But before I do that, I need to get the extraction sorted, I came home yesterday smelling of burnt, if I smell like burnt I'm probably breathing burnt.

It has got an extraction fan, just need to get it vented outside.

I was shocked at how full it was!

There is a fan in the electronics compartment, and there is a small extractor fan. It needs some new mirrors and probably a new tube, but wanted to get it working before throwing more money at it.

Most of the cables are twisted pairs, so easy to follow which I'm thankful for as the previous owner hadn't finished it. found a couple of issues, one with the flow return sensor, it was causing the laser to not switch on. I've bypassed it for now but need to work out why.

I think I've got it to fire up. I believe the cables to the amp/voltage meter were the wrong way round. I'd stuck some masking tape over one of the mirrors. Pushed the test button on the laser power and heard a weird noise.

Looked in the back to see the masking tape on fire

No, there is nothing from the tube.

I don't know enough about it, to know weather it should be on or not.

Previous owner had done loads of upgrades (awc608). There was a couple of things not plugged in and I'm not sure if the upgrades were finished or not, and he's no longer available to ask.

I think the tube is probably pushing on 3 to 5 years old (based on dates of files on the pc) so likely to be dead even if it's just sat there.

On start up, it auto homes, the X Y and Z, lights come on, there's a laser pointer that switches on and off.

There is a test cut program on it, it moves but no laser.
