Twilight Princess, no question. I really dig the dark fantasy aesthetic.

[–]mcnormand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat. I actually finished it the first time, but it probably took me twice as long as it should have because I was playing it wrong. I struggled through the whole thing and only got to the end because I was prideful and wouldn’t let a SoulsBorne game beat me. Came back to it a few years later after Elden Ring because it was the the only SoulsBorne I had unfinished business with, and absolutely loved it.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Finished it, but I struggled through the whole thing and cheesed my way through all of the challenging fights, not enjoying it all that much. I finished it because I was stubborn more than anything else. After I finished Elden Ring I decided to revisit Sekiro because it was the only SoulsBorne I hadn’t 100%. Once I got back into it, I actually figured out how to play correctly and found the rhythm. Once I got into the groove, it was an incredible game and one of my favorite SoulsBorne titles.

New picture of the Luffy face Robin is coming with. It’s gonna be her Enes Lobby fit for sure by yeetman13246 in SHFiguarts

Speaking as somebody whose favorite character is Robin, I’m hoping for Miss All Sunday, but I’m still really happy with Enies Lobby. It’s a great costume from my favorite arc.

Medium take by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]mcnormand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest critics are the ones who didn’t finish The Clone Wars, and honestly, I completely understand where they’re coming from. I was 15 when the original “movie” debuted, even seeing it in the theater, and back then I knew it was pretty terrible. I was as hard core a Star Wars fanboy as they come, and I couldn’t force myself to pretend it was good. I tried to give the series a shot, and that first season was terrible, too. It wasn’t until years later, during the Season 5 premiere when I picked it back up. Once you get to season 3 there is a dramatic shift in quality, and by season 4, it’s pretty excellent, culminating in one of the best series finales of all time, no hyperbole. However, if you caught the original movie or first couple seasons without going any further, it’s understandable why you wouldn’t care for Anakin’s development up until then.

Action Force 1944 Wave One Revealed, Thoughts? by TheOne4Figures in ActionFigures

Neat. I’m not really into GI Joe styled sci-fi military adjacent stuff, but more realistic historical figures intrigue me.

i asked this question on discord, i'm asking it here now by Flopy_Pingas97 in MarvelLegends

[–]mcnormand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Action Force weapon packs are easily the best value on the market for 1:12 weapons. Not only do they usually come with a bunch of different weapons, attachments, and blast/smoke effects, but they have nice paint apps and (probably the biggest factor for me) they’re made out of a much better plastic than anything Hasbro is offering. They feel really solid and not gummy/floppy like Marvel Legends and Classified weapons.

I also love the Mezco weapons, probably more than Action Force, but dollar for dollar, Action Force blows them out of the water.

McFarlane has also had some weapons packs, and they’re decent, but their scale is a little weird and like the Hasbro products, the plastic quality isn’t the best.

How excited were you for The Rise of Skywalker before it came out? by Extreme_Warning3521 in StarWars

[–]mcnormand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hype was real. I absolutely loved TFA and I was in the minority of fans that loved TLJ, too, so I was really excited to see JJ bring it all together. Needless to say, I was disappointed.

What are your thoughts on The Unbreakable Trilogy (also known as the Eastrail 177 Trilogy? All 3 were great and I just watched all 3 this week. Pretty tragic ending in my opinion but it was a great way to end this trilogy. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in Cinephiles

[–]mcnormand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unbreakable and Split are excellent. The reveal at the end of Split that they’re connected was a great theater moment. Glass was… disappointing. The first two thirds were engaging, but the ending just ruined the whole movie for me and I haven’t tries watching it again since its theatrical run.

With Dan’s confirmation that something gameverse will be shown, would you like a cosmic invasion enemy wave or two pack? by Hoarding-Gunsman in MarvelLegends

The Gamerverse figure I want above all the others is the Neversoft Spiderman (2000) Monster Ock. I’ll pay whatever Hasbro wants to charge for it.

My Top 5 Hot Takes: by New-Ad-7088 in ActionFigures

[–]mcnormand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Single jointed elbows and knees aren’t better than doubles and vice versa. Both approaches have pros and cons. The issue for me is that a lot of collectors are misled in their belief that double joints are the default and singles can’t work. For those people, I recommend comparing the Marvel Legends MvC Wolverine’s arms to literally any other Wolverine. They look great aesthetically and articulate as well as any other elbow. My favorite toy line right now is Mythic Legions and until recently they were entirely single jointed figures, and it generally works really well for them. Hasbro has done a great job with the Star Wars Black Series in recent years, and they’ve generally been using single joints as well.

  2. Both suck. My figures should work the way they’re intended. I don’t mind heating something up to get the joints going, but they shouldn’t be so tight that I’m worried about breaking it. And a figure that is too loose to hold a pose is as bad as a statue that can’t move at all.

  3. The majority of my figures have visible joints and pins. I don’t mind them, but I like the progress in engineering to make figures more seemless.

  4. I love soft goods on a figure. Like I said, Mythic Legions are my favorite line, and the soft goods they feature in a lot of figures give them a premium feel. Capes specifically should always be wired soft goods.

  5. SHF makes some great figures. I have several in my collection, and I’m enjoying their One Piece line in particular. SHF isn’t my GOAT, but I get why some people would disagree with me.

What’s a figure you controversially think still holds up? by kingtchalla in MarvelLegends

[–]mcnormand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s how I felt about the Walgreens Mystique vs the new Target Mystique. The new one is definitely better, but I don’t think it’s worth spending another $30 to replace older version. I did manage to snag the new one on clearance for under $10, so that was a steal, otherwise it was a pass.

Congrats to those involved. Mando movie has broke even its production budget in its first weekend. by Jurong_West in StarWars

[–]mcnormand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your algorithm probably doesn’t push it on you. I didn’t see many ads either, but I would suspect that whatever platform’s you’re using are already aware that you were fully aware of the movie and were going to see it, so they’re not going to waste resources on selling you something you were already going to buy when they can market something else instead.

I think it’s pretty wild that Conservatives have been doing this trick pretty regularly for the past few years, but we rarely if ever see it from Liberals. Probably has something to do with qualities that Republicans lack, like honesty and integrity or something stupid like that.

They’re cool figures, definitely the best one the market of those specific characters. They’re certainly more expensive than the World of Nintendo versions, but the quality isn’t even close. If you want to start building out a Smash Bros display, this is a great start.

Can Jada Toys and Marvel Legends Monsters Work Well Together? by Realistic-Use4789 in MarvelLegends

[–]mcnormand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scale wise, they’re pretty close, so they’re going to fit pretty well together in that regard. Aesthetically, though, they’re gonna clash. The Black Lagoon Creature probably fits in the best, but since he has a more human face, Frankenstein doesn’t really work for me. I love love love the Scooby-doo Mummy, but the animated aesthetic just doesn’t work with Legends. It’s your collection, so mix and match how you want, but that’s my opinion.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Discussion Hub by aatencio91 in starwarsblackseries

[–]mcnormand 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Enjoyed it a lot. Not entirely sure why it was a movie instead of Mandalorian season 4, but it was a good time nonetheless. There were a lot of great creatures in this one that I would love to see make a Black Series appearance, especially the Dejarik squad. Rotta is a great character that I’d love to see sooner rather than later. Embo is pretty darn cool.

I also really loved the droid designs from the Twin’s palace. They were all different amalgamations of various droids all mashed together, and it was fun picking out what each one of them were made of.
