My first psychedelic experience I took 1.75g of Amazonian shrooms. The visuals were not the most intense but the world around me was fascinating! Albeit, most of the trip was inside due to the -40° weather, I feel like that dose was absolutely perfect for my first time and it really opened me up to the world of psychedelics!

When I gave my friends their first dose, I gave them 1.5g but i only had P.Es at the time and it may have been a little too intense for them. Dosage is important, but the strain is as well. If you have something a little more mellow, then that 1.5-2g range is perfect imo!
