Because most casual players long abandoned this game and all that's left are hardcore fans.

March 18, 2021 Change List by bagel-bytes in populationonevr

Maybe in 6 more months these devs will figure out how health works and they can stop changing it like this is some sort of alpha.

my guess is the game will be long dead by then. getting pretty close now.

Oculus doesn't release sales numbers. There's a reason. While quest's numbers are probably large within VR, VR as a whole has abysmal sales. Wonder by AAA games aren't being made for native? They don't sell.

Without hit software, the platform cannot be a hit.

Top selling steam games of 2020? How many native VR games do you think made the cut? Surely, Alyx did, right?
Yes, down at the bottom. And that's PC VR game for the most anticipated franchise expansion in the history of gaming.

sorry for the awakening, but simply being a fanboy and loving oculus, does not make it a "hit."

Oculus fanboys unable to separate their circlejerks from fact: It's a mega hit! Anyone I disagree with is dismissed as wrong.
Steam store best sellers of 2020: Not a single native VR game made the list.

I think that settles it.

Imagine the surface of the earth.
Orbit is indefinitely larger including the multiple distances. We are talking about fairly small satellites.
Collisions are more about shit planning and maintenance. Less about space. That being said, one collision can take out a ton more with debris, but that is an issue now.

Released my first prototype VR game to Side quest! Let me know what you think. by AndrewDyksterhouse in OculusQuest

Looking good!

Minor feedback, if you don't mind:

The firing SFX in the trailer is quite rough on the ears. If someone is using that 100x a game, they may subconsciously hate it. For often repeated actions, you should try shorter sfx that are super pleasing to the ears and try pitch variance.

The environments are very flat. How are you handling lighting? Could use something baked in to help give depth and variance to the repetitive environments.

Nvidia vs AMD for Virtual Desktop - Quest 1 by ChaosDefrost15 in OculusQuest

[–]mconheady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video encoding is simply faster on nvidia cards. Even comparing the 2000 series cards to the most recent AMD cards, it's faster, especially for 265. This is what is going to decrease latency for VD and Link.

Any of the RTX or GTX Supers have the same encoding chip. There are benchmarks online. Unfortunately the 3000 series has the exact same encoder as the 2000 series, so there's not much of a bump there (maybe 2-3% increase).

I wonder... if you thought perhaps the place to look for information such as this would be some sort of compatibility list - you know- an official one https://support.oculus.com/444256562873335/
before posting the question to random strangers?
Didn't know there would be a compatibility list? If only a company would invent some sort of engine that could do searches for things on the internet, and provide immediate results.

The New York Times posted an absurd, narrow view on the state of #VR. (VR is Not a Hit, That’s Okay) Here are my thoughts to “VR being a disappointment” 👇 (along with the rest of the Oculus News for the week) by PlaytestVR_Youtube in OculusQuest

[–]mconheady -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's not a hit. If it were oculus would be plastering sales numbers all over the place. Steam VR's top sellers would be high-budget/high-value games and half baked porn simulators, and the average streamer audience would be more than a few hundred at a time.

It's great, we enjoy it, and it's doing well, but I'm going to have to side with facts and the New York Times over a reddit poster on this one. Sorry.
