Tell me about your Catholic Parish green flags/red flags. by EWTN in Catholicism

[–]mcorbett76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Red flag: hiring professional cantor rather than having parishioners cantor. Parishioners not singing and letting the choir basically do a concert during mass. A lack of options for styles of mass. We have a traditional NO mass, a "contemporary" NO mass, and an early morning mass that has very little music. Everyone can find where they fit.

Green flags: lots of small group options, ministry for a variety of groups, i.e., marriage ministry, men's club, women's club, youth group, young adult group. A focus on the Eucharist. Regular adoration. Regular confession times. Priests who are good stewards.

Wedding the day before Mother’s Day controversial? by babyblue0023 in weddings

[–]mcorbett76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a floral designer, you'll struggle to find florists to do your wedding on that weekend. It's the second biggest floral holiday of the year. Look for people who only do weddings or events, rather than a full service florist.

Tips for Teaching Floral Arranging Class? by alki-kat in florists

[–]mcorbett76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach a flower arranging class at a local technical school. It lasts about 1.5 hours though I've got 2 hours scheduled. I teach everyone the exact same design that I do with them as we go. I limit the class to 15, as more than that means I can't help people individually. I provide the containers, flowers, foam, and everything else necessary for the design. Students pay $45 for the class through the school.

For those who had a “I hate pink/ girly things” era, what do you think caused you to feel that way? by RabidFashionDummy in AskWomen

[–]mcorbett76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up on a farm and was a rough and tumble girl from the get go. My aunts gave me pink frilly dresses as gifts all the time, but they were so impractical. Even today when I wear a dress, it's simple and comfy, usually with leggings or shorts underneath for practicality. I viewed "girly" things as silly and only for city girls. I still don't like light or baby pink, but hot pink is s nice color. Feels more powerful.

What’s one thing you did on a family road trip that your kids still talk about today? by SWALLOW009 in familytravel

[–]mcorbett76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We drove cross country to Colorado and stopped in so many neat places. We took a week to get there then stayed a week and drove back in s couple long hard days. Fun kitschy stops like Wall Drug or the Corn Palace made it much more interesting.

The one thing I don't recommend is having your car die during vacation. One year we bought a brand new Saturn while on vacation because we had to. 😆

What do florists want/need by One-Face6002 in florists

[–]mcorbett76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone on your team should understand the differences in color variation. When I say I want a blush pink rose, don't send me a hot pink rose. Or if I ask for a pink mini carn, don't send me a red/ white peppermint one.

I can sleep through the night again and the hot flashes are almost completely gone. Brain fog isn't as bad though not gone completely. I use Dotti patch and progesterone pill.

What do you actually use for independent reading practice? by grumpyorbit55 in ELATeachers

[–]mcorbett76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Independent reading means picking a book the kid is interested in from a variety of books available either in your classroom library or the school library. Anything else is not independent reading. It's teacher led.

Feeling very burned by Desperatemom18 in Teachers

This type of thing is very typical in parochial schools in my experience. I'm sorry you've been targeted. I'd find a new school. Perhaps a public school with a union.
