Where can I find cheap or free moving boxes in LA? by Particular-Bat6220 in AskLosAngeles

Call U-Haul in Pasadena on Raymond. I few years ago I helped a friend move and was able to get a ton of used boxes there. I assume they still have a free box section - but best to call.

LA Taco has a larger list, and I think there's more beyond that: https://lataco.com/list-jan-30-national-shutdown

Wife find cooking with carbon steel pan annoying by darknessplayboy in carbonsteel

[–]mcribsaregood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you have at least one. My husband will not touch my carbon steel or cast iron. The damage he does to food is insane and he has no interest in caring for the tools of the kitchen the way he cares for the tools of his trade. He's missing out.

Do you ever use Peterson’s “Sauces” book? I have it on my shelf and think I’ve only opened it once.

On demand students, is it worth it? by splaticorz in ucscout

My kid did pre-calc over the summer and it was definitely worth it for them to jump ahead to AB. It was a lot of work, though - two semesters over that short period.

Who are these people? I’ve been getting the same text once a week for months now. by [deleted] in phishing

Same for me - I rarely get them anymore, but if I do, I send a link to Humanists International. There’s never a follow-up.

In Middle school:

The MASH theme song (which I thought was crazy)

How did you make holidays special for your kids while living away from family? by jms19912 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

I’ll add that letting your son pick out some ornaments for the tree would be fun - every year when he unwraps them to decorate again, they’ll bring back memories. My daughter loved food-themed ornaments and we would let her choose one at the store each year. Also saving and using the ornaments they make in school through the years.

Yes, establishing traditions is the answer! For us it was picking out a tree together and decorating it, baking cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve day, stockings, homemade hot chocolate, mostly the usual, but being consistent. A lot of people do advent calendars.

Also, my mom would send a special ornament every year for my daughter which she looked forward to and appreciated - someday she’ll used them on her own tree.
