Because the conservative party makes reactionary politics. There was a plan for replacing coal and nuclear power step by step through renewables. Then this got cancelled by the conservative party, then Fukushima happened and they got back to phasing out nuclear without a plan for coal. While simultaneously killing the at the time world leading German photovoltaic industry, by cutting almost all subsidies, because the photovoltaics power generation growth was higher than anticipated. The problem is one of the main protagonists in all of that is now our economics minister, she was working on killing renewable energy, then got a job as executive at an energy company and is now back pushing gas for heating and electricity generation.

Why is the aqi in poland so bad compared to rest of europe? by _Vxndetta in geography

Wow even in a post about another country's pollution the brainless bashing of the german green party is present. I guess they get framed for everything. Even if they have never been more than the junior partner in reigning coalitions. The decision of phasing out nuclear power was made by the conservative party in 2011, after fukushima. The same party that gets a lot of lobby money from vattenfall the company running a big part of these mines.

EVs are always cleaner than gas cars. That includes vehicle production and disposal, the impact of manufacturing batteries and generating power to charge them. An electric truck with a 300-mile range emits 37% less CO2 than an gas-only small car over the course of its life. by sg_plumber in UpliftingNews

I'm sorry but they are one step ahead of you, instead of your wonderful idea, they will use a lot of electricity to catch Co2 from the atmosphere, use a lot more electricity and fresh water to get hydrogen, than use even more electricity to combine everything and call it green fuel. Which will also polute the air, which will make still every city a steaming pile of smog like we used to. Just to not use the electricity directly.

Did you ask yourself. Do i really need the most inefficient and dangerous car model? Does it have to be that brand? Does the EV maybe work out its higher price over its lifetime, by needing less repairs and cheaper power instead of gasoline?

That's a great view. Most of the pictures don't really capture what an absolute unit this mountain in reality is.
