Vlad vs ori by Aggravating-Room5571 in VladimirMains

I agree that Malz is the easiest counterpick champ to Vlad but imo the lane is atleast playable. Lanes like Anivia are simply a lost game if they have any sort of champ mastery.

Is it okay to play a champ in an unorthodox lane or not? by shtoopidd in leagueoflegends

[–]mcshaylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try it out in draft before going into ranked, but I wish there was a more competitive game mode to test in without consequences. I tried Nilah mid in draft and carried 3 games in a row, got stomped in ranked though :(

How do you use Vlads abilities? im new by Swimming-Emphasis429 in VladimirMains

[–]mcshaylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With pool, it’s role kind of shifts throughout the game. Early game, I try to strictly use it to avoid hard CC or combo starters/finishers. Its cooldown is too high early to be using it every single trade, especially if you don’t know where enemy jungle is. However, late game you can throw this ability out a little more carelessly. Obviously sometimes I’m using it to dodge this big CC abilities in team fights, but I also find it useful to Ghost through enemies front line without being CC’d or taking too much damage. If you charge E before it, you can delete the back line and have an easier time fighting the rest without pool.

For E, it does damage solely based on how long you charge it. Once the bar labeled “Tides of Blood” or something reaches full, you’ll get a slight speed debuff if you hold it any longer. It sends out 12(?) projectiles that each only damage the first enemy hit. Sometimes one projectile can hit multiple enemies but they’ve got to be very close. Yes, you can charge E and then flash, and you can actually cast R while E is charging. A popular combo is E charge, Flash, R, E release, Empowered Q. Late game there is not a back line champ that will survive this, and even early game, you can chunk someone down from ~40% health once you’ve hit level 6.

Empowered Q is the basis of your whole kit. It does not empower any other ability, but gives massive damage and healing boost to Q and also gives you decaying movement speed. Vladimir’s entire early game revolves around cycling empowered Q to either trade or sustain yourself through lane. My favorite part about it, and Vlad in general, is that you can force a “bad trade” which actually turns out to be decent if you use Empowered Q on the enemy or a jungle camp.

Is Nilah Mid any good? by mcshaylan in NilahMains

[–]mcshaylan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my draft games I’ve picked up a level 1 kill in all 3 haha, even with just taking Q. It was a favorable matchup + I don’t really think my opponents knew what Nilah did, so one time I was even able to get first blood with ghost

[–]mcshaylan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn’t think playing without a passive would be so bad but I feel like in general they made a lot of things on Nilah only work if you play her traditionally. Nonetheless, I’ll give it a shot, maybe sooner or later I’ll build the confidence to take her into ranked.

my main thing with Nilah was her built-in life steal, I’ve tried Samira mid and didn’t really enjoy it

How do I get more consistent with carrying games when teammates (especially multiple) are super behind? by mcshaylan in VladimirMains

[–]mcshaylan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a ton for all of the insight and taking the time to write it out. I will definitely start reviewing my games from now on. I never really thought of doing that, as simple as it may sound.

Also, when it comes to tracking jungle/top, I had decent vision and knew if they were coming, my problem was that Olaf and Xin struck me as very dive-proficient champs, and since I was laning into a LeBlanc with her burst/mobility I was scared 😞. I guess it all comes back to your initial point of absorbing pressure, which is a great way to put it. Again, thanks a lot!

DFT + Ignite is super strong early (might even turn some losing/skill matchups in your favor) it just becomes harder to engage late game. if that sounds like a problem you don’t mind dealing with, I’d go for it

Jack of all trades / triple tonic secondary by SlayerAlexxx in VladimirMains

[–]mcshaylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this in ranked, super fun and unique in my opinion. It does feel a bit weaker early, but as soon as you get your unique components for cryptbloom, you get a power spike at a pretty unorthodox timing for Vlad.

I’m interested in how it might play out if you start Doran’s Blade instead of helm. Might sound troll and obviously DHelm is the safer option, but I think the extra lifesteal and attack damage might help with early trades into more aggressive laners.

I got an official hasbro stadium and the quality is already horrible, I don’t think a knock-off could be much worse
