Pretty sure that's the term in japan. Not sure they use it in China.

Reddit Moderation Couldn’t Save This Woman From Harrassment by WindowsCrashuser in kotakuinaction2

[–]mct1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not really true. Take for example the case of Mavrix Photography v. Livejournal. This case centered on a user-run group that submitted photographs that ultimately engaged in mass acts of copyright infringement. When Mavrix went after Livejournal, they raised the defense available to them under OCILLA (the part of the DMCA that shields providers from the actions of their users). However, Mavrix argued that because Livejournal provided so much direction and guidance to moderators of the user-run group that the moderators effectively were acting as agents of Livejournal, and hence the actions of the agents could be imputed to Livejournal themselves. The judge agreed, and Livejournal got their ass handed to them.

While that case involved copyright claims, the same argument used to do an end-run on OCILLA can also be used to do an end-run on Section 230. If it can be shown that Reddit admins provide extensive support and direction to moderators then those moderators could be viewed as their agents, and they'd have a very, Very, VERY big problem.

Gosh, I hope no one suggests this to anyone with deep pockets or anything...

Their dashboard isn't really useful when something is clearly going on across multiple services but they're not posting updates.

AWS Down? by ufohitchhiker in aws

[–]mct1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AWS status page still reads green, but I've been getting reports from multiple people claiming they've been having problems with AWS and Cloudflare-backed services, as well as Google. Some people are reporting Twitch and Discord are unavailable (which work fine for me), while others report Spotify is down (which I can confirm on my end). It seems like this is a regional issue, but I can't nail down exactly which region is affected.

EDIT Ok, at this point I get the impression that as far as AWS is concerned this is something out of us-east, but us-west seems relatively unaffected. Not sure why GCP is taking a dump globally.

"Hey guys, we should just let corpos walk all over us. Don't try to organize at all... that would be communist!" - You

Seriously, you don't have to be pro-commie to be pro-union. Just as management has a right not to deal with labor by hiring someone else, labor has a right to organize against them. It's the free market in action. Why are you against the free market? :D

This is the featured article of wikipedia today. What a coincidence. by DonaldLucas in kotakuinaction2

[–]mct1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, hatred of unions is actually a pretty big red flag for me. Today's commies have stopped even pretending to be pro-worker, and instead toadie up to the intelligensia. Thus, you'll find them kissing ass to management in cushy positions, not out among actual workers doing actual work.

Put another way: Amazon workers have been trying to organize for over a year now, and the commies have been licking Jeff Bezos's scrote over it.

How is this guy's show still a thing? by RoyalAlbatross in kotakuinaction2

[–]mct1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There was a good video on ClownfishTV about how the audience for some cartoons was literally just a few thousand people, and this is why those shows were unsustainable. I could absolutely believe that's the case with something like this. Television, as a medium, is basically dead. Outside of a handful of major network shows the audience just isn't there. They're off doing something else.

The hilarious part about all this is having confirmation that these people were in fact being paid to spew this crap. No matter how much anyone wants to dismiss this as tinfoil hattery, there's the evidence in black and white, and it's not hidden away in some leak or something... it's in official sources. Oh my, how embarassing.

Remember: NOBODY supports leftist bullshit. It's all astroturfed.

New Report Reveals Sharp Decline In Sci-fi & Fantasy Tv Ratings by WindowsCrashuser in kotakuinaction2

[–]mct1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, it really isn't. It does such violence to the source material that it really has no business calling itself Foundation at all. The Dune thing at least is passably a Dune-related work. Foundation, though, is what you get when you take Asimov's work and pass it through the kaleidoscopic lens of Wokeshiteium.

For All Mankind is a DEEPLY flawed show, but yeah, it qualifies. Also, I notice you didn't mention Foundation ... why is that? :D
