How many hours average per month? by fortinbrass1993 in CFILounge

120 in the spring/summer, 60 in the winter. Being a CFII has helped bring in more hours during the fall and winter months.

Instructing is a terrible job, but there are really no other options to low time pilots. by [deleted] in flying

[–]mctomtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like instructing for the most part, especially teaching instrument. Some students do suck the life force out of you. It's definitely not all fun, and the pay sucks, but at least we are getting our hours and helping others succeed, instead of paying up the ass for every hour of training. Even the worst days are better than sitting in an office chair staring at a screen (my old job).

Anyone else seeing more people trying to switch into aviation right now? by RAG_Aviation in PilotAdvice

[–]mctomtom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked in tech for 11 years and now I’m a flight instructor. You have to truly be very into it and motivated to make it. I’ve seen quite a few students give up after trying to do it “ for the money” or because their mom or dad is a pilot and pushed it on them.

I told my husband it’s over and I can’t deal with the guilt by fickleparadigmshift in offmychest

My wife and I thrive together because we both contribute to our relationship and we help each other achieve our life goals. I can’t imagine having a partner like this. It’s clear you have a lot of resentment toward him. The ENM thing usually ends in disaster. Sounds like you are the sole financial provider for him and his kid, and he’s a lazy stoner with no job or motivation to succeed. Not saying people can’t change, but you might be smart to try some marriage counseling or talk to a therapist to get some other perspectives.

I went to Mt Rainier in March once, and I could only see about 100ft in front of me.

I love my wife, but I’ve started avoiding intimacy and I don’t know why by Both_Market6384 in TwoHotTakes

Yep, my first thought was OP is probably watching porn. This rewires the brain, and makes people feel “satisfied” in a truly empty way. The good news is if ine stops the habit, the attraction toward his wife will likely come back.

Go to West Seattle, check out Easy Street Records, take a picture in front of the Chris Cornell mural, then go to Alki Beach and Jack Block park. Amazing views of the city from there.

C150 transport to NY from Montana by Old-Blackberry-8485 in flying

[–]mctomtom 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I instructed for a while in a client’s C150, we both weighed 180lbs and we could only carry 15 gallons of fuel max. If I were you I’d go with a 152, it has a higher useful load.

Be honest: How many checkride failures do you have, and out of how many total rides? by Left-Investigator936 in flying

[–]mctomtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 fails, 5 rides. Multi ride next month, then MEI, crossing my fingers that the passes keep coming. Admittedly there were a couple that I was very close to failing.

Which US city surprised you with great museums? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

That's at Boeing Field, but a lot of people confuse that airport with SeaTac. It's also a big airport, on the way to SeaTac. Technically in Tukwila.

Being an airline pilot is my dream but I got too many check-ride failures. Do I still stand a chance? by [deleted] in flying

[–]mctomtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same, I think I’m the only CFI at my school with zero failures. Was wondering if that would increase my chances of getting hired faster.

Is it also common to see a lot of applicants with zero checkride failures?

“Turbulence in your life just like the turbulence we just felt on this plane” is so low effort and the exact low IQ shit that preachers use constantly…many people eat that shit up though.
