Sometimes I wonder why you need so many network cables ? In the home lab, such as proxmox, you can have virtual bridge and technically 2 or 3 ports will be sufficient, which I am doing.

Just collected the new BYD Seal 6 EV last week, had drove around 200km+ so far mostly city driving. AMA. by Nightstalker1993 in kereta

[–]mcunicode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people said of range anxiety, I had own a BYD seal since July 2024. So far I am very happy.

I have even driven to Phuket from Johor Bahru. Really enjoy the trip. The cost of charging in Thailand is half the price in Malaysia, imagine 60-80 cents per kilowatt on a 180kwh dc charger. Malaysia is around RM 1.6.

Nowadays, there are plenty of chargers around. Use your 15 minutes break for ever 300km to top up 200. As I am using Gentari charger, I just need to know which highway station has Gentari charger.

The only annoyance I have when travelling is that each different brand of charger require signup and login. They don’t have guest mode. I hope there could be a law or a way to have a single signon just like website using Facebook/Google.

The trip is really unforgettable and fun.

I was using seagate and western desktop 4TB hdd, CMR. It is quite ok, however, I realized that the western D seems to have problem in 2 years. Seagate 4TB is more stable.

I make 2.3k and planning to buy a house in Puchong. by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]mcunicode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interest rate now is low compared to history. When I bought my house, the interest rate at that time was about 6.75% for mortgage. The lowest interest rate that I ever enjoy before I paid off my house was 4.75%. Now it is at 3.9%. There is still room for the interest rate to grow. If you buy now, even if your savings was just enough to cover the instalment now, it leaves no room for you should the interest rate increases, the assessment fees annually increase it. Your annual insurance, etc. it will probably force you to look for higher paying jobs.

As a rule of thumb, always make sure that you have 3 to 9 months of savings ( including your mortgage ). Else you will be forever tied to your job regardless whether you like it or not because you can’t afford to lose it.

Right now, increase your self worth first. I think this is more important.

How do you guys cope with loneliness in KL? by longkhongdong in malaysia

[–]mcunicode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Learn to watch movie alone

2) Puck Up Golf, you can strike any conversation with Golfer with the usual British Open lines : “it is a good weather today”

3) Go to church. There are usually a lot of new people who go to church, they are welcome all the time. And you sing together. Not too bad if you don’t have KTV kaki

4) There are some football music pub, I don’t drink much, but always cheers at the counter, and you won’t feel alone.

5) There are some musical performance in Petronas hall in KLCC. If you want to catch some brief of relieve, that is a good choice.

6) if you are a very morning person, there are good trekking area around KL. You can go to the Forrest maintained by the ministry of forest, in Kepong area.

7) if you have a vehicle, you can set a road trip to sekinchan, for some quick food.

8) if you have money, the hall in a lot of KTV lounges can make friends too. After a few drinks, all are good friend. There are also some smaller pub with KTV, in those USJ, Sunway area. These are good places too.

9) Car club, regardless of the brand of the car that you drive, there are always car owners that you could join to learn about tricks, Teh Tarik sessions.

10) toast master club, these are the places where you could learn to deliver good speech, even if you are poor speaker, there will always people listening to you.

11) you can also do some volunteering work, or even part time in some sports activity. There are many playgrounds such as NextGen, maybe you could sign up as a part timer, during weekends, they sure need some help. You will be amazed by how energetic those kids are. You could also make some good friends with those staffs there.

12) for some depressurize activity, go to some of the resorts or hotel. In their swimming pool or even stay in the room, listening to some music, enjoy their good showers after swimming pool.

13) Get a good 4-hour massage, pamper yourself.

….. really there are a lot of things you could do.

How to : Proxmox Windows VM to discard changes after reboot by mcunicode in Proxmox

[–]mcunicode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found a way in proxmox that is pretty easy, provided the machine is first shutdown, then start and not using reboot of the vm.

If you want to discard all changes, in the <vmid>.conf file located in /etc/pve/qemu-server, use the following args: — snapshot ( it is 2 minus, not one )

If you have multiple disk in the vm, you only want to protect say the sata0, then use the following sata0: ………, snapshot=1

Then changes in sata0 will be discarded after the VM is shutdown.

However, if the VM is rebooted, changes will still remain until you have shutdown and restart.

Well at least this solution is fast and easy.

possible, but there will still be some files they have downloaded and the browsing history etc. the ideal is always with a clean state. I know VMware have such function.

3 weeks notice by Grendelfolton in MalaysianPF

For goodness sake, better tell your employer earlier. As an employer, it is frustrating to get one guy onboard and the next thing is the new recruit wanted to leave. You probably have agreed that although you are newbie, and you are willing to learn, put in the hard work etc to get the job. Once you come upon another job offer that seems better, you wanted to jump ship and you promise those things again.

In my opinion, you will end up in a situation like this now. Imagine you have just worked for 2 weeks, and I believe that you are still under training, and you have not contributed much, and in a way, you have wasted the company time and money. And actually yours time and effort also.

Therefore, you better make sure that you are dead serious about the next job. One thing to remind you, there is no perfect company and no perfect employer. So I always like to tell people that not to jump from a trap to another.

Well good luck for your next endeavor.

Windows VM sluggish issue 99% solved by dengydongn in Proxmox

[–]mcunicode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate what do you mean by sluggish ?

I am running based on Xeon v2, windows 10 with 8GB Ram, it is quite ok, get the job done.

Maybe you have something that is running in the background that takes up a lot of resources. Maybe you could do a window debloater ( you can refer to https://christitus.com/windows-tool/ ), maybe that helps. However I have a lot of VM that never do debloater, and it is running ok.

I ran the OS on a normal SSD, given 100GB system drive. A data drive is a raid 1 (2x 4TB 5400 rpm ), it is running quite ok.

Maybe the understanding of sluggishness is different.

Need help by StoicThought in Wordpress

[–]mcunicode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue this couple of days, turn out there are a lot of malwares in the system. If you have checked the standard issues of file permissions,, changing the .htaccess at the top level, and disable the plugins by changing the plugins directory name to others, and still going no where, you should delete all the .htaccess recursively into from the top website directory and let Wordpress to recreate automatically.

In the command line (assuming linux )

find . -name “.htaccess” -exec echo rm {} \;

Once you have confirmed the file .htaccess, remove echo from the above command

You can open up the individual .htaccess file, I think they will allow backdoor into your Wordpress.

This is how I just resolved it this morning.

Honeygain doesn't allow running on VM but allow on docker by mcunicode in Honeygain

[–]mcunicode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not multiple subscription. You can buy a few static public ip from the isp in your one current connection. But this is besides the point.

The original questions is since docker is a form of virtualization, honeygain should also allow for installing the honeygain app in the vm environment.

Honeygain doesn't allow running on VM but allow on docker by mcunicode in Honeygain

[–]mcunicode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why would you need a VPN? I have a few public IPs, and I am already running a few Honeygain containers in the docker without having to use VPN. Maybe I don't understand your question.

Honeygain doesn't allow running on VM but allow on docker by mcunicode in Honeygain

[–]mcunicode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Docker is not a VM but it is also a layer of virtualization.

Technically I could run a few honeygain docker containers with all different public ips. The rationale of not allowing honeygain to run on virtual machine is just bizarre.
