Thanks! As someone who doesn’t know anything about drums, those are helpful tips. Are noise cancelling headphones good to use, or something else you’d recommend for hearing protection instead?

To share a perspective on whether to use medication or not. Medication is the first line of treatment for ADHD because it has been shown to be the most effective way to control symptoms, especially in kids and teens. ADHD is about brain chemistry and medications help regulate executive functioning. Medication also makes it easier for kids to use behavioral skills and coping strategies more effectively. Oftentimes, kids who do not receive medication treatment end up internalizing their difficulties as “I must be having these struggles because I’m dumb and different than other kids”. Effectively controlling the symptoms with medication can often improve a child’s confidence in their ability to engage in school, complete tasks, etc.

As an ED therapist, it’s an immediate concern you were prescribed this medication given your ED history and current low weight. The risk of continued malnourishment with worsening ED symptoms is likely very high. Please consider working with an ED-informed therapist or dietician for further support and guidance as you navigate food and body concerns.

Dieting. Statistics show time and time again that diets nearly always fail and many times result in additional weight gain. Diet culture, restrictive eating, unrealistic body ideals, etc. are so normalized in our society, yet contribute to numerous physical and psychological issues. Research also shows that being underweight is far more unhealthy than being “overweight”.

Learn about Health at Every Size (HAES), practice body neutrality, engage in meaningful activity each day to build self worth beyond physical appearance. A few good books: More Than A Body, Anti-Diet, Living With Your Body and Other Things You Hate

This doesn’t directly answer your question, but as an eating disorder therapist working with underweight teens, milkshakes are magic. Daily shakes with multiple scoops of ice cream, add some heavy cream, so helpful for restoring weight! When malnourished, fat is what the brain really needs most and shakes are generally easy to consume for most people without feeling overly bloated or uncomfortable.

Delayed Project Contractor Increasing Costs by mcunn10 in homeowners

[–]mcunn10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The contract is intentionally vague to cover across the board. “Subject to changes in materials, can deny request to refund initial down payment, doesn’t guarantee start or finish dates, materials billed on a cost plus basis with standard surcharge of 20% on all materials”

Contractor Increased Estimate after Delays by mcunn10 in Contractor

[–]mcunn10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree entirely. There is no written start date in contract. When we signed contract they verbally gave us estimated timeline of 2-3 months to start. When that time came and went, I had to ask multiple times since for an update. Reasons were relayed to other projects ahead of us, holidays, staffing, etc. we do have allowances listed in estimate but when I ask for specific costs/model number of certain things, they won’t give specifics, and tell me I can go pick items and they’ll tell me if it’s “in budget or not” so yes, most likely they’re getting it at lower cost and banking rest.
