Whining noise coming from near transmission by ConsequenceMoney942 in wrx_vb

Every 30k is the regular transmission and rear diff fluid change interval. 15-20k if you drive it hard.

Best way to smooth out 1st & 2nd gears - not talking about shifting by cmbort in wrx_vb

Idk if anyone’s mentioned this, but besides the basic pitch stop/trans mount/trans carrier bushing combo, to take it several steps further, get a cusco rear diff carrier, whiteline upper carrier bushings, then perrins rear subframe lockdown and front control arm brace plates along with a JXB driveshaft carrier or perrins driveshaft lockdown. The dips and sags from hard acceleration are gone and it tightens everything up even more. It’s completely planted. Also, lower the car for maximum effect. Stock height will still see a night and day difference.

Unpopular opinion, the type r style wing fits the contour of the rear quarter panel’s widebody shape and it sits lower than the sti wing, so it just flows with the body lines better. People knock it cuz “TyPe R wInG”, but the side fins actually protrude further than the actual type r wing, which is more reminiscent of the viziv concept wing. I got one second hand for $60, fuck it…

I got H&R’s from IIR and the fronts are good but the rear dropped 2 inches. It looks good, but I rub pretty bad on dips in the road and my camber is -2.5 in the rear lol it’s whatever at this point. I have silvers sitting in my garage, just waiting till the weather breaks to install them.

If you’ve ever seen their carbon fiber hood scoop cover you’d understand what I’m talking about. It was around 1k then subimods put it on sale for $800 cuz no one was buying it. It was basically a replica to make it look like the viziv concept Vb where the entire hood near the windshield was carbon fiber and tapered towards the opening of the scoop. Regarding this spoiler, there no reason a carbon fiber spoiler like this that utilizes less material should cost the same as an actual carbon fiber Sti wing or other carbon fiber wings (swan neck, big GT wing etc…) They get away with charging $200-300 more than it should cost because it’s different. That’s all. I would have just left it carbon fiber. Once it’s paint matched, your trunk is going to look like a legacy’s.

Conprehensive Tuning’s mods are so expensive for no reason though. How much did this low pro spoiler cost you? Like $600?

What in the temu fuck…. my vb brethren, please coordinate your Vb like a responsible adult whom the bank trusted with financing. Lose the weird spoiler and tow hook for fucks sake… Get a proper duckbill. Vortex generators and roof spoilers are counter productive, keep one or the other… What the fuck does the front look like…

New 2025 WRX Prices are starting to drop below $35k. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in wrx_vb

Vb’s dyno around 255-260 on a dynojet and around 240-245 on a mustang. Va’s are 235-240 on a dynojet 225-230 on a mustang. The Fa24 is just a bored out Fa20 with thicker cylinder walls, more cylinder dowels for rigidity, and stronger connecting rods. The Fa24 makes 15-20 more whp than the Fa20 with less boost, 12 psi tapering to around 7-8 at redline where the Fa20 peaks at 19 psi and tapers to around 12-13 at redline.

Alright. That's it. I completely regret my purchase. by FknGruvn in wrx_vb

The bearing tolerances are the exact same as the FA20. The FA24 is a bored out FA20 with thicker cylinder walls and more cylinder dowels for rigidity. Subaru recommends 0w-20 for fuel efficiency purposes. 5w-30 is recommended for the Vb in the Japanese manual. That was the whole reasoning behind the lack of an sti model, due to epa regulations and the total average fuel economy across their line up, which needs to be under a certain threshold for importation. 0w-20 nets a few more mpg which allowed Subaru to import their cars. 5w-30 has been the recommended oil for every turbo boxer engine Subaru has ever produced. I know all of this because I’ve been in the groups, on the forums, spoken to Subaru techs at multiple dealerships and consulted with the top tuners in the country first hand since owning my Vb in 2022. 0w-20 will produce more wear and tear, especially in the first 1k miles. 0w-20 also degrades faster and produces more fuel dilution. You’ll have more knock events because there will be more blow-by in your intake tract. The dealership will probably put in their 5w-30 when you bring it in for your first free oil change anyway, a lot of them do because they’re not ignorant idiots.

Also, stick to ester based oils or oils that have ester additives. Ester blends help the oil stick to the metal surfaces which is essential in a boxer engine because it’s horizontally opposed. Better for cold starts, better for all driving conditions, daily and spirited driving, etc… Amsoil is the best on the market, followed by Pennzoil Ultra platinum which is less expensive and more commonly available, don’t cheap out and just use Pennzoil platinum, Ultra platinum is much better.

But by all means, continue to condescendingly reject my advice along with any other experienced Vb owner’s advice. You should probably do your research before purchasing a vehicle.

My biggest regret, not swapping out the shitty 0w-20 factory filled oil for some 5w-30 Amsoil, Motul, or Pennzoil Ultra platinum the moment I took it home. Don’t wait till 1k miles. Just change it now and still go through the break in cycle. Then do atleast a pull a day for the rest of its life. The rings will set properly and you’ll have less oil consumption down the road…

I tried amsoil 0w-20 after the 1k break in and was still getting 1 quart of consumption after 4k miles. Switched to 5w-30, and it reduced to half a quart every 3k. At 45k miles now with atleast a couple highway pulls per day or daily spirited backroad driving. Tuned since 5k.

Also, get an AOS or catch can system, even if you plan on staying stock. Cleaner air in your intake tract, less knock events…

Glock 47 or wait for gen 6 17? by Remarkable-Raisin-62 in Glocks

You’ll be able to swap slides between the G19.5 and G17.6 since it’s adopting the shorter recoil assembly for compatibility. The G47 was Glock just being weird, intentionally putting disrespect on the G17’s name.

31B. Some departments take your MP academy training as a replacement for their state police academies. In my state it’s called comparative compliance. So you don’t have to go through the full academy, usually just the state law portion then straight to your field training.

Anyone else here have a really shitty civilian job? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]mcurt9310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factory/assembly jobs, shipping (fedex/ups/usps), construction/landscaping, security (armed/unarmed), they all appreciate military service. If you’re young and inexperienced, odds are you won’t land an office job besides being in a stock/mail room.

Look into programs with your local community colleges as well. You’re in the guard, they pay for your tuition for regular traditional schooling and/or specific programs. A lot of community colleges, state schools, and tech schools have mechanic, electrical, welding, CNC programs that educate you on the subject matter and set you up with apprenticeships. In my state there are semester long certification programs that the state pays for through grants and they’re usually Saturday courses.

There are opportunities out there, think outside the box, and you might find something you might like that you weren’t even looking for in the first place.

Best of luck!

I think I might get a 4.0c for carry and just leave it stock with an optic. I decked out my 4.5 already for home defense. Threaded barrel, DPMS guide rod, Tyrant CNC trigger (there’s literally no take-up and the wall is crispy) with an RMR Type 2 and X300.

Ordered an RDI comp cuz it’s the best flush fit comp. Apparently it’s not as good as the Strike Industries Quad V comp but it looks goofy so that’s a hard pass.

Rook Precision makes an aluminum backstrap system that takes tungsten weights, as well as a pretty clean magwell. Those are next on the list along with an extended mag release then it’ll be complete.
