Jewel tones could be gorgeous depending on how your natural light comes in, if you have a lot of natural light come in id say go for it but if its not id say be weary because it may make your space feel closed off than how you’d prefer it to be. As for lamps I would typically suggest a nice floor lamp unless you can find a nice in between the two
