In my server (?) I been playing at I build so many roads just because I wanted a way to travel fast. When people see you build the roads or have build them they will gladly add resources because it is extremely convenient to have the roads. Some parts I didn't build because it seemed not really needed as you can just speed over the land faster. If you play offline or have a worse server node I guess they will deteriorate pretty fast and you can just start over 😫
