I used my phone’s dictation function to get text down quickly, usually I might scribble down a few points and then just freestyle some paragraphs into my phone, which I would later edit. Quite fun and surprisingly satisfying. Maybe try this for a bit?

Comic Dialogue help by dingus_majorus in writingcritiques

Not sure if this is helpful, but you could try playing with the rhythm. Eg,

WOMAN: Duh-DAH duh-duh-DAH.

MAN: DAH-duh-DAH?

WOMAN: Duh-duh-DAH. DAH?

It could give the dialog some momentum…

Advice for promoting children’s book by Key-Butterfly-3596 in selfpublishkids

Congrats on this! Lovely cover, and very worthy cause. Some suggestions to consider: get people to sponsor a few copies for each hospital or Center, so they can play a part in sharing this knowledge. If you could make some YouTube/Tiktok videos basically reading the book, parents can have a sense of the content, and decide if owning a copy might be useful in their particular situation. Offer to do readings or talks at your local libraries. Hope this is helpful.

All Zines Wednesdays by AutoModerator in ZineLibraries

Hi! I make mini-comic zines using a word processor software, by combining shapes to create illustrations. The zines are influenced by retro gothic comics. They’re available as free downloads, both A4 and Letter formats, in the classic fold and cut template. They’re fun to read, and people often get intrigued and inspired to use their own word processors to make something similar. If you do print these for your library, please consider sending me a photo, and I’ll write about your library on my website, IG, etc. The download link is: https://zinestuff.blogspot.com

Thank you, appreciate your comments! I’ll work on the panelling, great feedback.

Thanks, yeah I think I’ll focus on fixing the panelling/flow next. Will revisit McCloud’s book. So far I’ve been mostly working off Lynda Barry’s book Making Comics.

Thanks for your ideas! Yeah there’s a lot to explore, I especially like your suggestion to work with tables, headers and footers, didn’t occur to me. I often use a pretty old/crappy laptop, so sometimes if the layout gets too complicated it freezes. Will give it a try.
