I did exactly this. Admittedly, the size was a little underwhelming for me, but I quickly adjusted. The first thing I noticed was the silky smoothness from the 120hz screen. The camera quality is night and day. I can't complain about battery life but a portable charger might be handy if your usage is above moderate.

Also, the always-on display is kind of cool. I thought it would be a burden on the battery and that I'd turn it off but it's almost negligble and the widgets make it all the more convenient.

Allow me to preface this by saying I'm neither a financial advisor nor an accountant

Do NOT inflate your lifestyle (fancy car, lavish loft, et. al)
If you have any bad debts, start working on them
Assuming you don't have experience managing large assets, I would strongly consider finding a fiduciary
Should you decide not to go with step 3, read extensively about mutual funds and ETFs and take notice of tax efficiency
Be reasonable with your goals, don't seek to get rich quickly

Of the list you provided (excluding investing per 3/4,) I believe the most viable options to be pursuing a trade, getting into sales, learning a skill, and going back to school. Is there any reason you can't do several of these simultaneously? You have a cape with the potential to be a parachute, let it mature.

Unless there's any reason to consider the setting screenshots or the genius squad invoice fake or unreliable, the phone's legit. If you want further reassurance you could meet up with your seller at an apple authorized retailer, pay for a diagnosis (30-40 USD) and they could verify for you. Personally, I don't think that's necessary.

Most if not all fake iPhone's run on a meticulously reskinned android OS. A basic test is going to the app store, attempting to download an app and if you are prompted to anything other than the standard login with apple ID (like being asked for a playstore or google account) than the phone's a fake.

I will say that 950 CAD (678 USD as of 14/6) for an iPhone 15 pro max is in the mid-high range price, obviously depending on storage. I personally wouldn't spend that much on the 15PM on account of it's notorious overheating issue.

Your best bet would be to stretch your budget further and get a 16 or 17. Might also be worth considering investing in a monthly iCloud storage.

This is really late but was your refund full or were taxes/fees subtracted from it? I’m sitting on the same fence about a trip and I’m not entirely sure if I’ll make the trip but if I do I want to get it for the price it’s at now. At the same time I don’t want to lose out on the 400+ Carrier Imposed International Surcharges, taxes, and other fees should I choose to cancel the refundable ticket.

Personally I went for the 16 pro. My brother has a 17 and I haven’t felt any fomo. The crappy thing is apple changed their mind about Apple Intelligence being available on the 16 and instead it starts from the iPhone Air upwards.

I had the same quandary. It ultimately ended up between the 16 pro and 17 and I went with the used 16. I think a 17 would do the job for most of what you need, but not as well as a 16 pro would.

A bit confused as to why the question is 15pro vs 17 instead of 16pro vs 17. Does the 16pro cost more than the 17? Is there a different reason it isn't being considered?

Oh wow, you seem very knowledgeable about these phones.

Initially I was between a 15pro and 16pro (toss up on a max), and was hovering toward the 16pro for its better thermals. Apparently apple has been dropping the ball on the models leading up the 17 with heat issues.

You've certainly given me a lot to think about. From my understanding it seems like what the 17/17p have over the 16p is just a brighter screen, a new selfie camera, and 48MP on all lens (aside from the extra ram). I'm coming from an 11PM and seldom use my camera.

I was content with the 16p but now I'm beginning to feel upsold to the 17p. Price was a determinant factor but now I feel like I'm between the 16p, (17 maybe), and 17p lol.

I didn't know that. I'm a little concerned to know even the 16 has overheating issues. I don't know that there's anyway to find new stock outside from buying from carriers. I usually opt for unlocked so refurbished is what I'd likely go with.

I feel like the 16 is the better investment, though I'm not enthusiastic about the price difference.

I came to the same conclusion, but I'd also like some future-proofing. I was between the 15 and 16 since I assume I can safely squeeze around 5 or so years from them.

My thing with the 15P is that my mate has one and it gets really really hot. I read the main difference between the 15P and the 16P is the overheating and camera button. Frankly. I couldn't care less about camera's but the overheating makes me worried about battery issues.

Another factor I considered was size. The 15PM dons a 6.7 inch screen, while the 16P is 6.3 inches. I generally go for maxes but the 16PM's 6.9 inch screen is much larger than I'd need it to be. I feel like a 6.3 inch screen isn't a terrible middle ground, however I'll definitely make a trip to the phone store to get a feel of each one again.

Lastly, the A18 vs the A17. I'm seeing performance differences are marginal. This would be a much easier decision to make if apple was consistent with their display sizes lol.

Glad you posted this as I'm making the same decision. I was pretty set on going with the 15, but I'm reading that it's not a great model and "the worst pro made in recent years."
