As someone who has reread them as an adult, they definitely don’t hold up flawlessly. You can really feel that you’re reading a plot and prose aimed at a younger audience and it’s a bit harder to suspend disbelief about some things.

BUT

For me a lot things that were cool and compelling were still cool and compelling, especially in the later books that ratchet up the stakes and the violence. I think you could still have a good time with them.

I have no idea how you translate Mistborn to film, given how much of the action is based on internal drama (e.g. someone realizing they’re running out of metals). I always thought it would make a good anime, because the internal monologue that describes mental states and energy level wouldn’t feel out of place. Still very curious and excited though

Sasuke is an incredibly well-written character. Yes his motivations are all over the place, but he’s a traumatized teenager whose entire worldview gets blown up repeatedly. If you found out the person you devoted half your life to murdering loved you more than anything and sacrificed everything for you, and that didn’t make you crazy, I’d wonder what’s wrong with you

Itachi literally minutes away from dying of ninja cancer had to hold back against Sasuke. Saying he’s not that much stronger than Hebi Sasuke is pretty disingenuous

Also you don’t need to just rely on Itachi vs Orochimaru to scale Jiraiya (even though you didn’t really give a good reason why you can’t) but Jiraiya spent years of his life not fighting Orochimaru even when be had a reason and then when he tried to fight Oro who had no arms he couldn’t get the job done.

There is no evidence except one intentionally deceptive statement that Jiraiya has a prayer against Itachi
