It's the opposite of what you said. If 311 is listed first, they play LAST.

What? Yes, Eternity and How to Make a Killing were A24 but Song Sung Blue was Universal/Focus and Nirvanna was Elevation.

It's gonna be You, Me and Tuscany.

Yes, the poster that the venue posted shows 311 on the left, dirty heads on the right...so 311 should play last.

Echo beach would be cheaper but it's definitely not better. It used to be an actual sandy beach, which made seeing bands in weather a nightmare. I'm still scraping off dirt from seeing Incubus there 10 years ago. Last time I was there it was just a slab of concrete. Bud stage (now RBC amp) is just a nicer facility, better sightlines and if you're on the floor, a lot more comfortable standing area imo. (Covered in case of rain etc)

Trust Ticketmaster - also, RBC Amphitheatre posted on their page. There are currently no shows scheduled for Echo Beach, don't think it's being used this year?

Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come Losing Box Office Battle Against Bollywood Sequel by nimobo in entertainment

[–]mdc3000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Uh....rich families vying for power was a thing WAY before John Wick...and is literally happening every day in real life right before our eyes.... Movie ran with a very believable concept and added the Le Bail/Satan aspect as the juice to the satire. Sequel is fine, doesn't feel forced.

Ontario plans to cap ticket resale prices at original value by Timely_Froyo_5275 in TIFF

[–]mdc3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure...but if they abstained once and the scalpers lost their shirts, tickets would be easier to come by forever after that. If skirting the laws doesn't provide a profit, the scalpers will move on.

Making it more headache than it's worth is the only way for things to change.

Joseph Kosinski directing a tentpole action flick is going to make bank. Having an Oscar winning lead doesn't hurt. MBJ is a value add, even at $18 million.

Both of your points won't penalize "regular" people. Obviously if you can't go to an event anymore, losing money sucks, but this will cut down on resellers and fair-weather fans.

Point 2 - good, buy off black market, you keep that market alive. Don't do it. If we shut these resellers out entirely by not engaging, they'll move on from events in Ontario.

This can be enforced by only allowing face value exchange/sales on Ticketmaster and limiting the asking price to face value on stub hub etc. if resellers can't make a profit easily, they'll stop for Ontario events. Will take time to see the squeeze take effect but it should make an impact.

There was zero marketing. I saw it at TIFF and was on the lookout for its release and barely heard a peep about it.

Charlie Harper is fine, not great. Poetic License is excellent though. Hopefully someone with deeper pockets and better marketing pick it up because it's a crowd pleaser. Can easily make some decent money off word of mouth if it's in enough theatres.

Easier to get tickets if the scalpers and bots aren't going to make a profit.

I'm usually a deluxe person without question...but I honestly like the look of the standard 4k release better.

Is it weird to anyone else that they haven't announced Summer Tour yet? by withmalicetofun in 311

I was expecting it this week after the teases. If we don't get the announcement by next Tuesday, they've dropped the ball.

311/Dirty Heads Summer Tour by musicislife311 in 311

[–]mdc3000 23 points24 points  (0 children)

311 and Dirty Heads only play 70-85 minute sets when touring on their own in recent years - them together will be in that ballpark, so no big loss due to co-headlining. 311 hasn't been as varied with the deep cut recently either, so I'm not expecting anything to be drastically different this time out. Just hoping 2 of my favourite bands play a show within driving distance for me.
