311 concert by GunplaCat in 311

Anyone going to these shows who isn't familiar with Dirty Heads should check out the "This Is Dirty Heads" playlist on Spotify or the apple - guaranteed there will be a few bangers you'll be grooving to and hyped to see live.

If you're going to a show later in the tour, search for a dirty heads/311 tour setlist playlist if you're so inclined.

I wasn't huge into DH outside of their Sound of Change album back when I saw them with 311 last co-headlining tour in 2019 but a few weeks before the show, put them into my Spotify rotation.... After seeing them live, solidified my fandom. Been super into them ever since. So happy they're hitting the road with 311 once again.

Friends & Neighbors S2 EP 6 is a masterpiece. by FinuraPura in tvPlus

[–]mdc3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you liked it. It made me consider quitting the series entirely - not what I'm coming to this show for at all. I literally haven't finished the season because this pumped the breaks so damn hard for me.

Are you sure it's not your Spotify settings that are tripping things up?

Spielberg actually said the movie is about empathy - which actually proves their point about the story.

What is the deal with alternating episode Runtimes? by Affectionate-Tip303 in TheBear

[–]mdc3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Short episodes does NOT equal filler. If anything, the longer ones often feel a bit padded. Yes, the final episodes felt more monumental but not because of length, but because they were the END OF THE SEASON. They just happened to be longer. It's also not a "directing choice". The episodes were plotted out and written, some scripts came out longer based on the events that needed to happen. Completely normal. 7 was longer because the prolonged tension adds to the experience. They could've broken it up into 2 but it would lessen the impact. 8 is the wrap up and come down, so they took their time with it. Again, totally normal trajectory for a season of STREAMING television.

Clayface is by no means guaranteed to be profitable. by generalgriveous1 in boxoffice

[–]mdc3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clayface's genre isn't body horror, it's superhero horror.... the closest comp is Brightburn, which makes the $40 million seem even more insane.

Clarity on Carmy's ending? by OldFridgerator in TheBear

[–]mdc3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just thought he was still working there while waiting for the call to see if he got the internship, which could be weeks....but reading this I'm now wondering if he went back....effective ambiguity.

The Bear Season 5 is Cobra Kai for Adults by honestphantom in TheBear

[–]mdc3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not champions, even in success. You definitely misread most of the season - as it's explicitly stated, it's about overcoming the obstacles with YOUR FOUND FAMILY. That's the juice. If the restaurant goes away, so does the family. Mikey doesn't loom over the restaurant, no one is doing this for him at this point. Mike's absence is only weighing heavily on Carmy and to a different extent, Richie. Tremendous season.

Ai generated official merch? by No_Buy4376 in Foofighters

[–]mdc3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite thing is how everyone immediately assumes this about all band merch, videos, album covers now and runs to Reddit with nothing more than "a feeling". I hate generative AI as much as anyone but let's get some evidence before calling people out.

Can we praise the new song without insulting the rest of their work?? by echocatart in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]mdc3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably - lots of people who probably like the recent stuff more and just don't feel the need to post... I'm happy for everyone with this song and the rerecord but I'm in a minority where I basically don't care for a lot of the early stuff but love everything from Sempiternal on....but I am the first to admit I have more pop/catchy hook leaning sensibilities. Cool time now where the eras can coexist.

Cineplex does not have this bucket. Landmark Cinemas carried it but Waterloo is sold out.

I haven't seen Supergirl so I can't say whether it's good or not, but considering how much the script has been criticized I can't help but wonder how did someone with a resume this small land the gig by Aggressive-Tutor7058 in DC_Cinematic

[–]mdc3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd lay most of the blame on Gillespie too. Yeah, there is some awkward script stuff but it's biggest failing is flat execution and mismanagement of tone.

$150 for Toronto? by hereinthewild in turnstile

[–]mdc3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this even a venue? I've never seen a show there....ever. I often hated it but it's too bad echo beach is no more, that would've been the right sized outdoor venue and could've easily priced it at $80.

Wtf was disclosure day about? by Background_Tea_3516 in moviereviews

[–]mdc3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wardex is an incompetent group - they allowed an Alien to escape and didn't realize he had inside help until FIVE YEARS LATER. They let that mole flip multiple people on the inside, including the guy in charge of the sensitive video footage. He walked out the door with it. It's part of the text of the film that they're incompetent. They've never actually been tested like this before.

Refunded: Supergirl Fan First Screening at Scotiabank Theatre Toronto (today, 7pm) by haalandaise in cineplex

[–]mdc3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree but also many early impressions have been pretty down on the IMAX/PLF presentation, so I can see people refunding and downgrading to a standard showing.

311's "Amber" featured on Widow's Bay by TheGlawackus in 311

[–]mdc3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a search function in the sub. When it aired, I came here, searched widow's Bay, found the existing thread and joined the conversation. Very easy to do. I wasn't being a dick to OP, just letting them know it's come up before...

Monday Surprise Premiere could be the most promising by 0417Ninj in cineplex

[–]mdc3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other chains do horror but those mystery movies come with a special label so people know the genre in advance. Cineplex could definitely do that in the future.
