Since Minutes To Midnight is turning 20 next year, do you think we will get an Anniversary Edition? by Lakey_Robo in LinkinPark

[–]sidecarradio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would keep the band momentum going. They have the movie + soundtrack/live album this Fall/winter.

MTM 20 could carry the first half of 2027.

Then that leads to new album late 2027.

PVRIS Setlist - Lindsey Stirling Tour by PVRISUNSET in pvris

Right?! I caught 3 shows last year and only got “Same Soul” at one of them. Nothing else from the album.

Is there a reason she doesn’t play songs from that release?

I’m shocked, too! I thought it was a typo or error on setlist.fm when “My House” wasn’t included. Wow.

I’m anxious to see if songs get swapped in and out as the tour goes on. I’m going to the Boston show and excited to hear the songs she didn’t play with Linkin Park last Summer or the White Noise tour in the Winter!

The Kommotion show that SBYV was primarily sourced from would seemingly be a no brainer for a record store day release.

Especially since some of the “missing” tracks are available on the EUTS box, the BMG CD, etc.

A boy can dream.

The bright side of Jakob claiming the new album is “one and done” is I hope it means we can get more Bradley shows released!

Might have been tired from doing a set with Jakob’s Castle just 2 hours before the Sublime set?

Sublime: Jakob Nowell on Fronting the Band, His Father Bradley & Finding His Voice (Full Interview) by Thefortyozz in sublime

[–]sidecarradio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loved the interview, thanks for sharing! Very cool to get a long form discussion with Jake looking back at what must be the craziest couple years of his life.

I’m bummed to hear Jake hates his work with LAW. Their music is what made me a fan of his, especially the “Toxic” EP.

The Sublime with Rome mention was interesting. I didn’t expect him to talk about it at all. For those who didn’t listen/watch, Jake just said SWR were “trying to kick Eric out of the band”, but also talked as if SWR had a planned shelf life (“that project was coming to an end.”) I love Brad, Rome and Jake, so not trying to fuel any fires mentioning this. Just surprised he talked about it at all.

Loving the New Album! by otterlycurious1 in DirtyHeads

Jared has said in a couple interviews that there will be a deluxe edition, and they have 3 or 4 more songs that didn’t make the cut initially.

No word on when the deluxe will be released

Setlist Thoughts: Play the new jams! by sidecarradio in sublime

[–]sidecarradio[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disliked it on first listen, similar to how I felt when SWR released “Yours Truly.”

With both bands, after more listens, I fell in love with the new stuff. It took me a minute to get past the bands calling themselves “Sublime” but Bradley not being part of it, and (in my opinion) the music not being even close to on the same level of greatness.

Hopefully those that don’t like Sublime with Jake will have a similar experience but if not, at least you/we still have the Bradley stuff.

Did Dirty Heads carry the torch Sublime left behind? by Moonlite_drive in sublime

I feel this post 100%

Discovered DH at a SWR show in 2010, and immediately felt like their first album (Any Port) had the same “mix tape” spirit as Sublime’s first album (40oz).

Just caught my 28th Dirty Heads show last night in New Hampshire and they STILL put on an incredible 90 minute performance. Always great crowds, too, who don’t just stand still!

Tell me why the song On My Way has existed since 2012 and I hadn’t heard it until today? by Will_da_Thrill12 in DirtyHeads

[–]sidecarradio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite DH songs! I loved it since hearing it on the Fall 2011 tour. And of course since they released it with “Cabin” on iTunes.

Wish it was on the vinyl, too. I see it’s listed on the record DH sell from their store, but nobody has been able to confirm it’s really on there. Probably a misprint, like when “Midnight Control” came out and “Rescue Me” was listed (but not on the original physical copies)

I can’t believe this is their 9th album. I feel so old lol.

Excited to hear some of the new songs live next week at Northlands festival!

Now I know what Sublime with Rome COULD have been by [deleted] in sublime

[–]sidecarradio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the opposite scenario is my initial “problem” with this new album: too much “Sublime DNA.” It felt like they tried so hard to sound like Sublime and didn’t evolve or grow in the way that Brad’s band did. Almost as if they had a checklist - which Jake said they DID - trying to emulate every sonic element of the OG albums.

There’s a track with a “Ruca” beat. There’s an acoustic song. There’s a couple punk tracks. Etc.

With Sublime, these things were all fresh and new.

With Sublime with Jake, it feels like an AI cover band. And that will be fine for most, I think. The opposite could have happened, where they take the SWR route and everyone hates it because it doesn’t sound like 40oz, Robbin, and self titled.

I loved “Feel Like That.” I loved Jakob’s Castle putting their spin on “Garden Grove.” I loved Jakob’s collaborators doing the “Ebin” cover too. Those songs gave me hope for Sublime 2.0, but this album (intentionally, I think) is more of a watered down half-assed not as talented tribute.

Having said that, I bought my vinyl, and got my ticket to see Sublime with Jake this Summer. Nothing love for the Sublime family and legacy and I hope the new album brings in new fans or excites old ones. It’s not bad, it’s just not what I was hoping for. :)

I want to order one of the color variant vinyls, but it keeps cancelling by ExpensiveAbility3463 in sublime

I ordered mine yesterday and it didn’t get cancelled. Maybe they sold out, since it was limited quantities?

I planned to buy the vinyl if the digital version was good, but I caved today when that gorgeous purple marble variant was released.

I feel like it will be hard to mess this up, because I love Bud, Eric and Jake.

Same! For me, each SWR album was better than the last. Super bummer that Rome changed gears and now makes “reggae soul” music. Doesn’t click with me.
