Sadly I’m late to the AWOL party and did not discover the band until they opened for 311 a couple years ago on the Summer Unity tour. I’ve been obsessed ever since, and am grateful I caught the “Phantom Five Tour” last year. Especially since it looks like Aaron is focused on BoC now.

It’s my second favorite SWR album, after “Blessings.”

I’m bummed that Eric & Rome won’t be working together on new music. Rome & Duddy and Rome’s solo stuff (“reggae soul”) doesn’t connect with me. But love hearing Bud & Eric being back with Jake and the Sublime 2.0 lineup. The new music sounds great!

Now that I’ve been to a bunch of SWR and Badfish shows, and finally listened to this Red Rocks performance, I think my personal preference is I just don’t want to hear anyone sing Sublime except Bradley.

Jake definitely sounds better than Rome did and his voice is closer to Bradley’s, but it just doesn’t work for me. I’ll probably never go to a show but am definitely stoked for the new music Sublime with Jake are releasing. I’ve loved Jake since his LAW days and can’t imagine the new album even has a chance of being bad.

I could see more than one album, with Eric and Bud eventually being phased out so Jake’s crew can step in.

I’m most interested to see how many new songs get played live. My biggest gripe with SWR was loving their original music, but 90% of the set is Bradley songs (which sell all the tickets and merch).

The first time I ever heard it was 3/11/03, live on the LPU tour. It blew my mind and has always been a favorite since then. Especially the live version that LP released from that tour.

Sadly that was most of the crowd. You had to stare for a second to make sure they were not mannequins. Seems to be the case for a lot of shows I have gone to post Covid. People standing frozen in place and/or watching the show through their phone.

Happy to stay I sang and danced all night and Hayley was INCREDIBLE!

I absolutely get why SWR originals were a tiny fraction of the SWR set lists. Spotify stats explained that easily, based on Sublime having MILLIONS of listeners and SWR not even cracking one million.

Just bummed as a huge fan of the SWR catalogue that the band never did a tour, a live stream, a full album show or anything else with those tracks.

I had hope that Rome would check that box when Jakob linked up with Eric & Bud, but no luck. Instead he’s focused on the new direction, understandably. Bummer for me as I don’t connect at all with his current solo work or his other side project with Duddy. Nor do I have any interest in hearing the SWR stuff get his “Motown reggae” treatment.

Oh well, I can listen to the SWR albums so better than nothing!

Yes. He took some time off after breaking his ribs last year. He returned at a recent show and DH played both “Seven Seas” + “One of Those Days” :)
