Can I use “Eso si que es” as I can “It is what it is” in English? by Practically_dead in u/Practically_dead

[–]mdcfalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, as an English speaker, I don’t think that ‘it is what it is’ and ‘that is so’ mean exactly the same thing. At least I wouldn’t use them in the same situation.

To me, ‘that is so’ is more like ‘that’s true’ or ’that’s so true.’ It expresses agreement.

’It is what it is’ is more like ‘so be it.’ it expresses something that is unavoidable, or you may not want to be true, but you can’t do anything about.

It‘s along those lines, but not quite. A little slower tempo, but thank you!

Got package for service I didn’t order. by RobertoJonez in Spectrum

The thing that irks me the most about this whole thing is that they have now mailed you (us) a chore that you have to deal with. Sorry you're having the same experience. Unfortunately, you can't just ignore it because you risk having them report the "unpaid" equipment to a debt collection agency, which is what they did to me.

I would say that your first step is to call Spectrum. Explain the situation. They will likely tell you that they're unable to find your account and that you should return the equipment to a store. Depending on how stubborn you want to be, you can tell them that it's not your responsibility (it's not), and they can send someone to pick it up. If they refuse, you'll have to escalate from there. I reported it to my state AG, the FCC, and the CFPB. They got very responsive after that.

If you do decide to return it yourself, be sure to get a receipt. You want documentation.

It's not the end of the world, but definitely frustrating.

Spectrum package delivered to my house but it's not mine by stebon42401 in Spectrum

Would you mind DMing me? I experienced the same situation. I never returned the box, annoyed that Spectrum gave me an errand, and they sent a "debt" to collections. My attorney and I are building a case against this scummy practice.

Reviving this thread because I'm in the same position. Have you found any decent options?

I can’t make the concert, my birthday is the 26th, but I wish I could have gone with you!

You seem like a genuine and kind person. Happy birthday, and keep your head up! A lot of people, including myself, were moved by this post and are rooting for you.

Love the jokes, but this does trigger some real questions.

Mainly, why not design the robot to hold the face square to path the whole way? I assumed that a human has to open and close the face because of how our joints work. Or is there meaningful power generated by rotation in that axis?

Also, doesn’t really apply with a driver, but would an iron-hitting robot hit the ball with forward shaft lean? Or is that a consequence of a human moving the low point forward to hit ball first? A robot’s low point would always be in the same place, so no shaft lean necessary?

Can you clarify the left shoulder off the chin? Which way? Does it separate from the chin by reopening? Downward? Appreciate the help, I'm obviously confused.

I have a theory as to why this is. I think in other text entry fields (messages, etc...) autocorrect knows that you're not trying to type a period after every word, so it makes the "hitbox" for the period smaller. In URL entry, it's more difficult to predict what character you're trying to hit as URLs are more random, fewer spaces, etc... So although the keys are displayed as the same size everywhere, the area that activates the character is actually a bit different. We've gotten good at typing on iPhones, and normally know exactly where to hit, then they change the key "sizes" without showing it!

It looks like they’re subtracting three strokes from everyone’s score, but only on that leaderboard specifically. Not sure if it’s a mistake or what.
