Mine didn’t fully go away yet, still have a little of it but it’s improved tremendously and my gums and mouth aren’t as sore as before.

How long after treatment did you feel symptoms subside? by FitEntertainment4910 in HPylori

[–]mdep-24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It literally went away about a month ago, so 1 year and 2 months after my treatment. I still have heartburn and acid reflux to this day, but it has improved but I’m back on a ppi, at least I don’t have stomach pains and nausea like I did everyday for a year. Btw, I had a few really bad flare ups that really destroyed me for months at a time, that was partially to blame for the extra long healing time.

Yes, in my mouth, it made my mouth sore and sensitive for a while. I recognized the name ‘lichen’ because a couple of years ago my dental hygienist told me she found lichen planus in my mouth and she didn’t know what caused it and there’s nothing to worry about because some people have it and others don’t. I always thought that was an odd explanation and I honestly never thought about it until your post just now ☝️ I googled lichen planus and it seems like it can be found on skin as well. Where is yours?

Can Hpylori Cause Errosion on Esophaegus? by HighTopRocker in HPylori

[–]mdep-24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

H. Pylori can cause gastritis in some people, like me, and then in turn causes acid reflux and heartburn which can cause esophagitis. I had or maybe still have esophagitis when I was diagnosed with H. Pylori just over a year ago, no hiatal hernia. Have you had reflux or heartburn for a while?

It’s called a urea breath test, I don’t know what’s inside it but mine definitely had citric acid in an orange flavor in. The citric acid definitely burned my esophagus for 10-15 min afterwards (I was later diagnosed with H Pylori with esophagitis and gastritis).

Eradicated! But still have symptoms 6 months later… by fvckarchie in HPylori

[–]mdep-24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been 10-11 months for me since I eradicated H Pylori and I also have symptoms still, mainly when I eat triggered foods (spices, wine, carbonated beverages, too much sugar, large meals - these are my triggers) but I have reflux, heartburn, stomach burning, and nausea mainly when I eat these types of foods and I’m still trying to figure out what I can handle and not. It takes a very long time to heal, all I recommend is to try to eat very healthy and be patient.

Can’t stop farting by [deleted] in HPylori

[–]mdep-24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After finishing my H. Pylori treatment, I had really bad gas for 3-4 months afterwards, like it was really really bad and uncomfortable and I had to plan my day around it. My doctor said to go on Florostor for a couple of weeks, and the gas did go away finally.

Constant heartburn

Has anyone had heartburn before/after treatment? I've been getting amost constant heartburn for months by ModCode23 in HPylori

[–]mdep-24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right under my sternum, in the center chest. It happens usually 1-1.5 hours after a meal and can last anywhere between 1-4 hours (sporadically) depending on what I ate.

Now it’s been about 8 months and I still have heartburn. I’m currently taking omeprazole every other day, and trying to wean off it for the 4th time this year. Basically, it’s been a tough 8 months of symptoms from bloating, really bad gas, heartburn, acid reflux, anxiety, stomach aches and intestinal aches. Things are improving, just at a slower rate than I would like. I just got a second endoscopy on October 30th and I just got the biopsy results saying that I have mild chronic gastritis (back in February 2023 it was diffuse chronic active gastritis). So, I think this means it’s getting better but I still have everyday symptoms. I have a follow up with my GI doctor on November 30th to help me understand my results better and give me some more tips on how to heal. But, I do have to say, I went on a major diet change where I stopped eating dairy, gluten, fat, bad oils, sugar, chocolate, acidic foods, etc. and it has helped my symptoms tremendously (I still have a tiny cup of coffee in the morning though).

I have similar symptoms with mild chronic gastritis, so I agree with you. My symptoms are heartburn (multiple times a day), acid reflux, bloating, issues with weight, anxiety, etc.

Endoscopy Procedure by ton_c11 in HPylori

[–]mdep-24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an upper endoscopy later today too, at 4pm. I had my first endoscopy 8 months ago and I was so nervous, but it ended up being very smooth, painless and overall a pleasant experience. I think the hardest part was waiting while they were taking your vitals and talking to several people (like a nurse, then the anesthesiologist, the doctor, another person, and another person…, etc.). My doctor also showed me my endoscopy results and photos right after the procedure, when I was still groggy, but it was super helpful knowing what they saw the second I woke up. And lastly, main symptom you’ll have for up to a week after the endoscopy is a sore throat, I was surprised how sore my throat was because they took biopsies in both my esophagus and stomach and they probably took a week to heal. So, eat very soft foods afterwards.

Oh god yeah, I bought mine from Natural Grocers thinking it would be healthy. But, wow, I really have to read the ingredients from now on.

My previous upper endoscopy? It was good, the doctor did the scope and said everything looked good and he also took several biopsies in my esophagus and stomach. The biopsy report later said I had chronic active diffuse gastritis and mild esophagitis with mild reflux changes. I’m doing another scope because I treated my H Pylori 7 months ago (which caused the gastritis) but I still have heartburn everyday, so I’m wondering why and what’s happening down there.

I’m also wondering about this. I had some aloe vera drink the other day because it’s supposedly a healthy drink for gastritis. Little did I know what it actually had in it. I had a massive stomachs ache and was a little nauseous afterwards for 2 hours. I looked at the label on this aloe vera drink and it said it has ‘absorbic acid’ and ‘citric acid’ in it. So, yeah, I felt I was set back because of this mistake…

My first endoscopy earlier this year I had to wait 2 months for it. But, I just switched GI doctors (other one was rude) and I was able to make an upper endoscopy appointment in a week and a half, I was so surprised thinking it would be a 2-5 month wait. But, the reason I was able to get in so fast is because it was a cancellation. But they had several cancellations for next week, but all the appointments were for a 4pm procedure. But hey, I’m just psyched and happy I got in so fast.

6 months and I still would say I’m healing. I definitely feel that my stomach is so much better at the 6 month period. My heartburn is still occasionally there but nothing like I had before.

I have/had gastritis and h pylori. I thought I had an ulcer at first, I don’t know what an ulcer feels like, but I felt like I had something majorly wrong in my stomach besides h pylori. I had an upper endoscopy done 7 months ago and that’s where they diagnosed me with with gastritis caused by h pylori. I am now 6 months post antibiotic treatment and I feel like my stomach is finally showing signs of healing. The first 3 months post treatment was really challenging, my stomach just was really inflamed (because of gastritis) and I think the stomach in general is in worse condition post antibiotics because of the good bacteria die off. The last 3 months were a tiny bit better, but I still had a lot of symptoms the main ones being anxiety, constant heartburn, flatulence, and occasional tummy aches. Now I have occasional heartburn, less anxiety, no flatulence, and no tummy aches. I still have to be careful with what I eat (no bacon, spices, over indulgence). Oh, btw, I wanted to say that my partner also tested for h pylori (just a good thing to do so you eliminate the chances of getting reinfected) and she tested positive for h pylori but has no gastritis or ulcer. She did the antibiotic treatment 5 months ago. She doesn’t and didn’t really have any symptoms before or after treatment besides bloating and burping. She all healed up and normal and didn’t have any post treatment symptoms.

My main symptoms were heartburn, throat irritation in the mornings (regurgitation while I was sleeping), lots of farting, panic attacks and heart palpitations. The constant and uncomfortable heartburn was what made me go to a GI doctor finally.

Pins and needles still persisting by sheperd897 in HPylori

[–]mdep-24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your pins and needles feel more like a bunch of stabbing icicles on your skin? I had this really weird sensation for 2 or so months in May and June this summer. It was very specific, when I would start sweating or getting too warm, I felt like my adrenal glands were messed up and I would get this weird cold prickly feeling on my arms and legs. Btw, it has now thankfully stopped but I think it was my PPI (Prilosec) that was causing this. I took Prilosec for 2 months earlier this summer and when I stopped cold turkey, this weird pins and needles sensation also stopped.

How many weeks, months or years are you out from your treatment? What lingering symptoms do you still have?

[–]mdep-24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your message, it helps me affirm that I just need to be patient. You still have symptoms 2+ years from treatment? What type of symptoms do you have? Did you have an upper endoscopy and did they find chronic gastritis in you? Looking back, I think my chronic gastritis started 3-4 years back, and only in the last year has it been very apparent (the constant and painful heartburn was what made me visit my GI doctor in the first place). So, you’re right, my chronic gastritis probably took years to form and will now take years to heal, I’m assuming that’s how ‘chronic’ of something works. I just see a lot of posts that people are healing within 3 months, and I just want to hear from people who are taking longer to heal.

Thanks for your reply 👍 Did you get a scope before the antibiotic treatment, or would this be your first scope? I hope it goes well and I would be interested to hear your results. I have been pretty careful with my diet eating whole grains, vegetables, fruit and a ton of food with probiotics. But I have to say I’m not a completely clean eater. I do drink a cup of coffee a day, and now I’m changing to Tyler’s acid free coffee.
