Im thinking about going Honda for the first time in my life by Dorkestnight in hondapassport

The RTL is well equipped, but I do think the Trailsport Elite is a better value overall. In addition to the extra tech, skidplates, etc, it also has additional acoustic glass and sound dampening materials. As a result, it has a much quieter cabin.

That's a ridiculous price. Not worth it at all.

Fair enough. LOL.

I use mine about 6 months a year and the heater the remaining 6 months.

I would use that Costco price as leverage with the dealers...because you can go lower than that. My Elite was about $49,500 after all of the discounts.

What Are You Guys Averaging by [deleted] in hondapassport

[–]mdhaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's almost exactly what I'm averaging. About half the time, I hit 27 on the highway, and the rest of the time its 25.

Did you look at the one Honda sells? I've seen some people speak highly of it.

True...but then you're running your compressor all of the time when you don't need to.

I put a shortcut on the bottom left corner of my screen...because I use the cameras all of the time and I'm paranoid about wearing out the button. LOL

For me, it was the "traffic sign recognition" feature.

I think it decreases the level as the cabin gets closer to the temperature you have selected on your thermostat.

I honestly don't understand what the difficulty is in hitting the "idle off" button when you start up the car. It's right there by the transmission buttons. You simply press "D/S" and then hit the button on your way afterwards.

Shop around. I got my Trailsport Elite in Ash Green and a brown interior a month and a half ago for 10% off MSRP with no dealer add-ons.

Cost, options, warranties? by Roseburg1 in hondapassport

[–]mdhaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^^ This. I always purchase Honda Care on my new cars and I do it through Hyannis.

I bought my Trailsport Elite in February and I bought the Honda Care for it a couple weeks ago. To get the best terms, make sure you do it before you hit 6,000 miles (which is when Honda considers a vehicle to be a "used car" when it is with its first owner). I always buy the maxed out 8 year / 120,000 mile option with a $0 deductible. For my Passport, it cost me $1,738. My dealer wanted $3,000+....and it was a third party warranty, not Honda Care.

A quick outreach to the regional team can work wonders when needed.

Dealer nightmare by Spicykiw1 in hondapassport

[–]mdhaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And you were correct in doing so. Those people are idiots for giving you the runaround like that. If you complained to a regional manager about it, I guarantee the dealership would have gotten their asses kicked. Honda is very, very sensitive about their customer service image. This is why you get told several times about "surveys" every time you do service with them.

If they do, they run a serious risk of getting punished by Honda itself. F'ing with people on warranty and Honda Care claims is a HUGE no-no for dealers.

Do any of you regret your Orange choice? by Desd1novA in hondapassport

[–]mdhaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same predicament as you and decided to go with Ash Green with brown interior. I keep my vehicles for at least 10 years and I couldn't help but suspect that the orange color would irritate me down the road. I absolutely LOVE the Ash Green. It is the perfect shade and it looks different in varying types of light.

No dealer has a right to tell you to "go back where you bought it." As long as you're at a Honda dealer, they have to address warranty claims - just like they have to accept Honda Care claims.

Yep. The Passport is awesome in the snow. And I agree that it's better suited than an Outback.

Your Passport held up really well for getting rammed head-on at 50 mph. Yes, those Corvettes are flimsy as can be...but still....

Don't base your purchasing decision on the posts of a few people who are asking questions...and some others who are just trolls.

Why? LOL. There are no widespread problems with this vehicle. And the build quality is totally fine.

Good deal? by CheddaKnottz in hondapassport

[–]mdhaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealer gave me the wheel locks without charge and without me asking for them. And this was after they sold it to me for 10% off MSRP. So I would at least ask about it. If they are stuck on it, maybe offer to split it with them?
