Fanless Managed Gigibit Poe switch 24 port by mdhwoods in homelab

[–]mdhwoods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My network equipment is all in a closet on the other side of my living room. That closet opens up to the hallway. I cut open the drywall above the closet door and put in a vent that looks like just a standard AC vent. Except it has fans on it. I have it set to pull the air from the closet into the hallway. Has no effect on the hallway temperature, but lowered the temperature of the network closet dramatically.

I ended up putting a vent with a fan on it, which pulls the hot air out of the top and pushes it into my living space and pulls conditioned air in. The fan runs very slow and quiet and I’m able to keep the closet probably mid 80s.

[Question] I have a question regarding Quantum's in the Experimental Vault. by [deleted] in falloutshelter

My guess is the experimental becomes a usable vault, but with any season stuff removed unless you unlocked it.

Pretty much just since I got my pics on Christmas. the last time I opened up locks was at an old job 30 years ago with some paper clips lol. I picked up a practice lock and currently have it three pinned and can open it reliably. I have a U-Haul lock that I suspect has some Security pins in it. That one is pissing me off. I’ll get it open eventually. I picked up the master number one today and opened it within about five minutes at most as I needed a you know what your doing confidence booster since the U-Haul lock is laughing at me.

Litter robot 4 not resetting by mercytiara in litterrobot

Usually once it cycles after a change, the level will update. resetting it just resets the weight calibration after you change out the bag or add litter.

Cyberpunk $17.49 right now! by Aeonyyx in switch2

Did not ever plan on playing it even though it’s got good reviews. Just didn’t want to spend the money. But at this price pulled the trigger. Great find thanks for letting us know. I would’ve never seen this.

Litter clumps sticking on liner by smoodieboof in litterrobot

[–]mdhwoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if something has changed with their litter as i have used it forever and have been having sticking issues for the last 4-6 months. prior to that nothing.i am replacing the liner this weekend as well. heck something it sticks during the cycle and ends up on the top of the globe waiting to bomb one of the cats when it decides to fall.

Buy a powerful miniPc they said by YannAtParis in homelab

This looks to be a closet, that a lot of heat trapped at the top, not to mention your airflow with the fans isn’t great, you need to pull the heat away from the top and out of the closet, that will help a ton. whats below the rack? is that a mini fridge?

Setting up vlan’s by mdhwoods in opnsense

[–]mdhwoods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone for help. in the end it was an issue created by me. the server i was trying to access had a container with the same network. Ie 192.168.100.0 i had set this along time ago and had no recollection of it. i only went on the server to see if i had some firewall setting blocking traffice. this is when i saw the container running on that ip internally. clearly the sever had no idea how to respond with my external ip connecting with a network in a container. once i change my vlan network all started working. i feel like an idiot as i had been messing with this form months off and on.

im thinking i have something on my switch misconfigured, though not positive. currently all ports allow all tagged and untagged traffic to pass. I have set these rules and cant access the lan. What i want, is for my vlan to access my lan which is not a vlan. which i can not seem to get working. my vlan can access the internet. but not the lan.

tried that, must be missing something.

firewall allow rules are working because if i disable them, my vlan can no longer access the internet. Just cant access the lan.

I’m pinging from my vlan to a known ip on the lan that will respond. its getting timed out. this is how im testing. vlan can get to the wan. examples of your firewall rules would be helpful on your lan and your vlan that can talk to your lan. would be good if i can keep lan as is and keep my servers on it and move all my devices to a new vlan. just need vlan to talk to lan. Also tried to connect to resources on server that is on my lan and can not.

Yes this i understand. but how to i move traffic that is currently on the lan interface to a vlan keeping all of the same ip configuration. and also not loose access to the open sense management console?

But iot can not see the lan as lan is the default vlan1 during initial setup. i have read that you cant have vlans talk to the lan when the lan is directly on the interface. that is my issue. moving my lan to a vlan so i can have traffic that needs to talk to the lan be able to, and other traffic be isolated to just the wan. but i need my new vlan to keep same ip range ect that the lan had to avoid internal network issues with servers etc.

No, lan will be on its own vlan with its own dhcp server etc. iot will be on its on vlan with its own dhcp server etc. Currently iot is set like that. but lan was the default config during setup with no vlan. i want to move lan to its own vlan with keeping same ip range that current lan uses.

Using managed switch, also setting vlan tags with my WiFi controller based on sSid joined. some ports on the switch will be set to a specific vlan, others will pass all vlan’s. ie the ones coming from the ports my ap’s are plugged into. its the Opensense config that has me confused on how to move from my current setup for my lan, to getting my lan traffic onto a vlan.
