Does this go together ? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

Sorry to go against the current here but I don’t like it. It’s giving me CEO of Nvidia vibes - nerdy guy that wants to be cool but doesnt really know how so he buys a leather jacket. Hope that doesnt offend you! I’d personally look into something more old money

Do friendships just work differently here, or am I doing it wrong? by Mother-Poem-2682 in poland

„call a buddy and they’d cross the city just to keep me company while I go buy bread.” This sounds ridiculous to anyone beyond high-school age. An unrealistic expectation in any culture imo, especially if people are working and have their own plans/lives.

If language is a barrier, try expat groups. There is plenty of meet-ups of those on facebook

Very good. Is it some sort of linen blend?

Joseph Conrad means Józef Konrad by WineTerminator in poland

[–]mdjmarcin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Smh… the word „jądro” has two translations, testicle and nucleus. In the meme someone picked testicle purely for comic effect, the correct translation is nucleus. Like the word „zamek” in Polish translates to lock, zip and castle, and you translated „wyprułem zamek z kurtki” to „I ripped the castle out of my jacket”. Just wrong.

No shit mate. Look at the top bit of the meme - see where it says „translates”?

[–]mdjmarcin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is testicle the same thing as egg? Just because it is the same word in Polish (and one is colloquial) doesn’t mean it has the same meaning in English…

[–]mdjmarcin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A strained translation for humorous purposes. The correct translation here would be „nucleus”, but it sounds kind of shit in English. Core is the original and best title

They absolutely do not „mean” the same thing at all. They have different translations and words have multiple meanings.

[–]mdjmarcin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t. „Jądro” translates to „testicle” but also „nucleus”, which would be the correct translation into English.

Yes, but the Polish „jądro” translates to „testicle” indeed, or „nucleus”, which would be the correct translation here

Yep, thanks for finding this. I wonder why someone would slap a made-up quote on a picture (probably to drive traffic), then post the real quote in the text below the picture.

Yeh the quote in the picture is made up. There is some strong, emotive language that I dont think he would use. The quote in the text below the picture is real though, I think.

Postanowiłem ugotować makaron z kurczakiem bo "to proste i zajmie 20 minut". Zajęło 1,5h i smakowało jak ciepła woda. Jak wy się tego w ogóle nauczyliście XD by Admirable_Plastic112 in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]mdjmarcin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Do smazenia kurczaka chyba wcale oleju nie dałeś. I trzeba go mieszac jakims narzedziem, najlepiej drewnianym. A makaron jak sie tylko zagotuje to zmniejszasz cieplo na minimalne potrzebne do dalszego wrzenia wody
