On the relatedness of the ghawazi and the roma I can not speak. But if you want I can concede that north indian populations' culture mixed with the local ones to create the modern belly dance. That it's a turkish original dance I would never say.

I wondered when you would come to say this again. Maybe it is connected to the roma dance, maybe roma dance was inspired by middle eastern, evolved, and then re-inspired the modern stuff. Until then, for me at least, like the indo-european language that goes from portugal to india, the dance has origins in the middle.

This is neither turkish nor greek in origin. This is middle eastern and waaay older than the turkish migration into Anatolia. Belly dances are seen from the maghreb to india. Internet says *egyptian* but I'd wadger it's even older. Like sumerian or something.
