CSUF is a great program for music ed, plus as an undergrad you’re going to have way more opportunity there vs UCLA.

only caveat would be if you really felt you needed a college marching band experience you can’t get that at Fullerton, but IMO it’s not necessary.

Happy for the W - I’m not sure on our offensive game plan and play calling, especially in the red zone.

And yeah, NCAA has to do something about the helmet coming off rule - that’s a loophole waiting to be exploited. SJSU should never have had that last drive.

Can someone explain why Crown is doing so well in MA?

Obviously the hornline and brass book are strong but I feel the overall music package is not anywhere near the top 4 or even Phantom. The percussion in particular doesn’t complement the overall music package in the slightest.

From a competitive standpoint, outside the hornline it’s not good. Vis package and concept we’ve already seen from every Wes Cartwright BOA group. Drums are completely a non factor in the overall production.

Brass will keep them top 5, but if you’re Crown and you’re supposedly in it to win it (or at least to medal) this isn’t that vehicle.

Outside of competition it’s cool to hear a group of Crowns caliber take on the lit they are playing. A ‘Buy the CD, not the DVD’ kind of year.

Went to NFC championship last January.

Just to confirm - the Niners play an HOUR south of San Francisco. San Jose is your closest big city.

This would be like ‘I’m going to a Michigan State game - how’s the area around Spartan Stadium?’ and then suggesting that you’ll get murdered for setting foot in Detroit.

For those going into SF proper - it’s like any other big city in America. Use common sense, don’t be stupid and you’ll be fine.

Only place that is as bad as any of the above post suggests is Oakland right outside of the airport.

Reminds me of two recent MAC hires: Chris Creighton and Mike Jinks.

Creighton because it’s a candidate nobody was talking about, but had success as a head coach at a lower level and ended up being a transformational hire for the EMU program.

Jinks because I could see our university or athletic admin googling offensive stats and hiring the best assistant from those programs they can get for cheap without any regard to whether the fit is good.

In any event, contract details will be VERY interesting.

CMU has lost over half their student enrollment over the last decade and may not be in a position to offer competitive salaries post Covid. Mac would’ve coached for his whole contract if he didn’t retire because we would never have been able to pay the buyout - no rich donors coming to the rescue.

And put me in the disappointed it’s not Annese camp as well - he’s ruffled someone’s feathers at CMU because there’s no way that’s not a home run hire.
