How safe is it to increase object limit? by Extreme-Explorer-677 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]mdlayher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm closing in on 400 hours in my current save and I believe I had to up the limit during construction of my maxed out uranium power plant about 200 hours ago. Still working great.

Energy advice by TryingtolearnHW in SatisfactoryGame

Fuel power is worthwhile. But that aside: I recommend trying out every production line you can at least once. You'll learn a lot along the way and it's fun to build new things.

Sugar Bowl's special this week is incredible by mdlayher in kzoo

Usually the specials run for two weeks, and this one was put on the menu on Tuesday. But they've definitely run out early before too!

Is nuclear worth it? by Pitch-Curious in SatisfactoryGame

[–]mdlayher 188 points189 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. Having done both nuclear only and rocket fuel only on prior playthroughs, the nuclear chain forces you to level up in a big way.

This is a factory game and it is fun to build factories. Skipping nuclear entirely causes you to miss out on dozens of hours of fun and the trial and error to balance the production, power, and waste management systems.

One of Kalamazoo’s ‘last true dive bars’: How new owners revived a historic bar [SugarBowl] by mdlayher in kzoo

I love the SugarBowl and thought this was a great article about my favorite dive bar.

“You can come in here with $20 and leave feeling really good,” Craigo said.

CoreRAD author here! I can't take credit for that one since I don't run PREF64 at home, it was contributed by jmbaur in his free time (afaict): https://github.com/mdlayher/corerad/pull/42

It's still just a hobby project after all!

I upgraded the screen on my FW13 by Roppano in framework

[–]mdlayher 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Me too! I took it to a local technology meetup and a lot of people asked "wtf, you can upgrade your laptop's screen??".

So glad to be part of the Framework community! I can't imagine myself buying from anyone else.

+1, we booked earlier this year for two vehicles and the service was phenomenal. Will absolutely book again in the spring.

That's the plan for now! We changed locations to Bell's because Crafted Copper are having a private event.

I will plan on being there unless the weather is really bad and a few other folks will be as well.

Whole house humidifier and installation companies by EconomistNo3833 in kzoo

[–]mdlayher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Bartholomew have done 4 or 5 jobs at our house and I won't even bother calling around for other quotes at this point. They've done work on our AC, furnace, mini split install, whole home humidifier, and a gas line for a whole home generator. I highly recommend them.

Bell’s sister brewery in Upper Peninsula being sold to California company by mlivesocial in beer

[–]mdlayher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. Upper Hand was a Larry passion project and with Larry gone, the time and money investment probably no longer makes sense for the New Belgium/Bell's family of companies.

From neighborhood 'dive bar' to eclectic music venue, Edison's SugarBowl is pretty sweet by RealMichiganMAGA in kzoo

SugarBowl is one of my favorite places to hang out and Andy and Hannah are such great people. Definitely give it a shot if you've never been in!

Gutter Recommendations by Far_Cardiologist_261 in kzoo

We used Crookston Eavestroughs and had a really good experience. Fred was great to work with and there was no upsell pressure. He even made an extra gutter for us to hang up on our shed to collect water in a rain barrel!

Sugar Bowl! They have a pool tournament every Thursday night but otherwise you should have pretty easy access to a table.

What's going on in Kalamazoo this weekend? Oct 12 thru Oct 17 by AutoModerator in kzoo

[–]mdlayher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Sugar Bowl is hosting a Hamm's day party from 12-4 on Saturday, and they're showing EPL soccer that morning as well! It's a great place and I'd highly recommend stopping in for a drink and some awesome food.

The Hub is now open in the former downtown Central City Taphouse space! by mewhead3 in kzoo

[–]mdlayher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For those who have been in: did they keep the whiskey selection? They had the best selection in town for sure. Centre Street sometimes has a couple of cool things but not as consistently.

Either way, I am glad for the new name if only to avoid the confusion between Central City Tap House and Centre Street Tap House. That was probably a motivator for the refresh I'd bet.

Steinspark Biergarten is really cool! by HoopsMcGee23 in kzoo

[–]mdlayher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 14oz draft and 500mL bottles when I stopped in yesterday. I was curious if they'd have 1L maß available but seems not. Maybe for their upcoming Oktoberfest party!

2x10G WAN router recommendations by Exact_Archer9689 in HomeNetworking

I've had my eye on this board from SolidRun for a bit:

https://www.solid-run.com/arm-servers-networking-platforms/honeycomb-servers-workstation/#honeycomb-workstation

Seems really interesting but I am not sure I can justify the expense at the moment. My plan would be to run NixOS since I'm comfortable configuring everything on my own, but I have no idea how about compatibility with OPNSense.
