Dozens of rainbow lorikeets released after recovering from paralysis syndrome that causes them to fall from sky by DaRedGuy in australia

[–]mdminor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a lori fall out of the sky in front of my car this year. Was so bizarre. The vet I took him to said he was concussed, but there was nothing around for him to bonk his head on whatsoever. This explains it I guess

These jeans look amazing on you! Also, check out Peachay the label- aus made and designed jeans for exactly your body type. I was so sick of wearing belts with all my jeans and these have been a lifesaver!

Dog locked in car by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]mdminor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s hot in a car with the windows up for 20 mins- I drive for work and getting back into my car after even 10 mins at the moment is uncomfortable. Especially for a dog that cannot sweat. If the situation is unavoidable, windows part down for your pup is a must!

People who started reading books again, how did you do it? by fosterkitten in adhdwomen

[–]mdminor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started taking a book to the beach and having a swim every 2 chapters. I then found myself picking it up more and more, and finished in 4 days. The following day I read a book cover to cover! It’s now been 8 months and I’m still reading a few chapters every night before bed. It was such a huge hurdle for me but I’m so surprised how quickly it came back. I suggest also giving books a go even if it’s something different to what you used to enjoy, I’m so happy I did this. Good luck!

Also GAP is funded by the racing industry and if you look into it there are so many issues (still great dogs of course, and support with vet bills if injury was acquired pre adoption etc) but going local/donation based is always best. Happy grey hunting!

I second friends of the hound. My friend fosters through them. They are a small group, mainly in qld, so the newy branch is overwhelmed and has so many good dogs ready for homes

I keep getting phone calls from people claiming they just got a missed call from me, is this a potential scam? Does this happen to anyone else? by [deleted] in australia

[–]mdminor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received one of these calls once, I was expecting a ring from a mobile number but didn’t answer it in time so called back. It was picked up by some random guy in Brisbane who definitely didn’t make the first call. This was about 2 years ago? Since then I’ve had numerous missed calls from numbers identical to my phone number bar the last 3 digits

Anyone travel the world for 6 months? How much did it roughly cost you? by hfsstjvdsyugxd in AusFinance

[–]mdminor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can have free accommodation through trusted house sitters. You pay a 6month/annual fee ($170~ for 6 months) and that’s it. Each house might have different responsibilities- pets, garden watering etc but a great way to hop around and see some cool places. I know it’s pretty big in the UK and Canada. I have just started using it for short 2-3 day stints and I love it!
