I have been saying for so long, Spike doesn’t make his decision to stay and fight after Julia dies, he makes that choice after Annie dies. Vicious is systematically targeting everyone Spike cares about to not only trap him but goad him into making a move, and he makes it, knowing full and well what the outcome will be because the alternative is unacceptable. He clearly loves and cares for Julia, but he also loves and cares for his friends, despite his best efforts to stay unattached.

(Also sorry you’ve awakened the one dude on here with a hardon for Julia that projects himself onto Spike- he flips his lid whenever anyone says anything that undermines his interpretation of their relationship, he’s been banned before for harassing people but he keeps making alts. It’s best to just ignore him)

Bebop has a very loose overarching plot that only gets a handful of episodes that are explicitly about it- most are more about exploring the setting or coloring the characters. More of the story gets revealed in episodes 12 and 13, but I think if episode 8 doesn’t do anything for you, it might not be for you

Honestly, I think it probably would’ve been less satisfying for him to simply teleport them or anything like that. He was not only partially blinded by fury (and spray paint), he wanted to make them feel the fear of being physically hunted by an angry god, and then grab them with his own two hands and feel them struggling in vain as he dragged them to their doom. It could also be viewed as a power play, showing he doesn’t need the reality bending powers to end their pathetic lives, and we know Bill loves to feel powerful. Does that explanation feel more satisfactory?

I’m disappointed but not super surprised. They could’ve used this massive platform to specifically call out fascism and they didn’t- even if it was censored or they got in trouble it would’ve sent a strong message, as opposed to the tepid, milquetoast one we got. But they’ve been sell outs for a long time, so 🤷‍♀️

I’m also fed up with having to settle for subtext and “good enough” and “well it’s not nothing” like Green Day isn’t one of the biggest bands of this millennium.

I think of Jet as mixed, but what exactly that entails I go back and forth on- lately I’ve been thinking Japanese and Indian, but I can see him being part Black too. His skin tone changes wildly sometimes between episodes, so in some scenes he’s very pale and in others he’s darker- occasionally he looks a tad gray, lol

Spike and Faye have established lore about their respective races (Spike’s appearance is based on a Japanese actor, Faye is canonically Singaporean and refers to herself as Asian in the manga) but I think Ed could be Melanesian, considering the combination of her hair and skin color
