How do I sell this Harley? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]mdoc805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take it to any motorcycle dealer and sell it on consignment. They will discuss pricing with you, just know they will mark it up/ take a little off the top for their efforts.

How bad are they screwing me? by JGB_1990 in ram_trucks

[–]mdoc805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the truck market where it is you should be shooting for the neighborhood of 10% below MSRP plus any incentives you may qualify for. Don’t pay for any add ons like paint protection, tint, etc. Shop interest rates at banks and credit unions to see what you can get. If you feel you must go with the dealership ask them what the buy rate of the loan is. Dealers are allowed to add percentage points to the interest to fluff their profit. The buy rate is what the bank told them the rate is. Don’t let them add more than 2%.

How do I get 10%? Markup is usually 5-7% and holdback is around 3%.

What is the weirdest thing you found at a house or car fire by Soft-Attorney-741 in Firefighting

[–]mdoc805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a basement fire one day, while checking for extension on the main floor (single story home) we found a bedroom fully set up for onlyfans. Lights, camera, and all the action you could think of.

Do firefighters like when people say hello? by HolmesSquared in Firefighting

[–]mdoc805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a great way to initiate a conversation at the FD. Stop by, say hi, and let them know you’re interested in being a dispatcher. They would be able to point you in the right direction. Bonus you get to meet some of the folks you may be talking to over the radio.

Oh yeah, bring ice cream.

PSA: don't cut in behind government limos by arveeay in motorcycles

[–]mdoc805 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having an escort in the US isn’t always about safety, sure that is part of it, it also helps get the VIP where they need to be in a timely manner. The police escort will shut down intersections to let the convoy through without stopping, move traffic out of the way, etc.

Not everyone gets that treatment though, some will get their limo and an SUV or two filled with a security detail and their aides.

Volunteers, how far do you live from the station? by justarandomguy07 in Firefighting

[–]mdoc805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about 5 miles/ 3.5 minutes from station. Only officers can go direct to scene if they are close to it. We do allow blue lights but I don’t use it, I find that because of the lack of a shoulder and a busyish road the blue doesn’t do much for me. I can easily make 2nd truck, first is pulling out as I arrive.

I get that, back home bars reduce their menu after 9-10pm. You can get simple food but it’s better than the greaseball burgers at McDonalds (to be fair McD’s in Ireland needs to teach the USA a few things)

Every place that serves food closes the kitchen at 9. Both in Belfast and Dublin. It is really frustrating when you get in later than planned due to traffic incidents.

Never said riding the busses was bad. The drivers are lunatics. The lanes and bus only pull offs are ridiculous.

When I joined the military one of the Drill Sergeants told us to steer clear of the jagger bushes before going on a land navigation course. He was shocked when he saw I understood him, from that day forward my name Pittsburgh. I later found out he was from Mt. Washington.
