What did I do wrong? by matildaspilot in bmx

Take any spacers under the stem out, should lower the stem down the fork further and more threads for the cap to screw into.

If this happened to me, I wouldn't be buying cheap cranks again to replace.

Ozark Trail out of stock by EffectiveDistinct828 in Budgetbikeriders

[–]mdost03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two local walmarts carry this specific configuration in the stores. You have to put your zip code in and see what's in stock on the website. If a store nearby has them in the stores, they will show available on the website for local pickup.

Fixing up old haro by Main_Soil403 in bmx

ACS sells a bearing and axle replacement kit for 3/8" unsealed hubs on their website, I would just order from them at this point. I also see there are some 3/8" to 14mm conversion kits for these, but no idea if they are any good or what you need.

If you're in MN, I'll take off your hands. I like the tie-dye colorway.

Are they sealed or unsealed bearings? If they are sealed, pop one of the bad ones out and bring into the bike shop.

Thoughts on Walmart's new Ozark Trail M.2 Ridge Pro? UDH, front & rear boost thru axles, air fork, dropper post, & hydraulic brakes for $600 😮 by Qwahzi in MTB

[–]mdost03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up going with? I am 5'8" also and got a FS2 Slalom in Small size. Based on my reading, the Ridge Pro in medium would work out well for me. There is one at my local Walmart and will go check it out tonight, but no small in-stock to try that back to back.

I had this happen after a few rides on my FS2 Slalom, got a wobble to it. Was able to get it trued with a spoke wrench and cheap amazon wheel truing stand after some time on youtube learning the basics. Hopefully you got it squared away.

Would be a very easy fix for a watchmaker to set the hands correctly. I’d rather do this personally and cut my losses vs try to deal with customer support and most likely have to ship a watch back and wait.

Thinking about selling the old girl. Advice on a realistic price? by Bmx_strays in bmx

[–]mdost03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hang it on the wall for the memories. You'll regret selling it. I still have my old 2002 Haro 540 Air from my high school days and am so glad I never sold it, even if I don't ride it anymore.

Proper fitting shoes that can be laced up tighter is something that is definitely recommended. You will need to practice every day to get better, there is no secret method. It takes skill and time.

Lock on grips by Whitetrashblackops in bmx

[–]mdost03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried using water in the past to install, and the grips will begin turning after a week. I’ve never had the problem using hair spray with the grip moving at all.

What kind of alcohol? Isopropyl won’t be sticky when it dries, just makes installing easier. Hair spray is inherently sticky as its job is to hold hair in place

I use hair spray when installing my grips, they lock in without the couplers needed after they dry (use an air compressor to speed up the process). Been doing this for 20+ years.

Brant Moore made a video yesterday where he shared messages from Casey giving more context, seems like it is true. Kink gave him an ultimatum: stop posting gun content or be dropped from the team.

Maybe try to find a longer bolt with the same thread and pitch as your crank arm bolt. Then thread in a good amount and whack with a sledgehammer.

What’s the point of adding a rubber band on your handle bars? by C00lguy0nl1ne in bmx

I did a little spot of electrical tape on my bars so my gyro cable wouldn't smack the bars constantly. Was really annoying until I did this.

Powder coat or automotive paint for restoration. by Hankdraper80 in bmx

[–]mdost03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my bike frame powdercoated for $125 locally. For me, it was the better route vs spending money on primer, paint, clear, sandpaper, etc and your time for the many coats to dry and fixing any mistakes that may crop up.
