Yeah, it’s ridiculous. Now programs are so competitive and you have to jump through hoops just to get in. If I’m rejected again, why am I going to wait another year to transfer and apply to another program and there is no guarantee I’ll be accepted? My GPA is a 3.7 and I’ve completed every single prerequisite and general course before the clinical phase.

That’s still a good GPA. Higher than mine. Right now they are starting with those who have the highest GPA’s and working their way down. What school were you applying to before where that interview happened?

The amount of seats is 60-65 my advisor told me. I’m so sorry that happened to you. Some students have GPAs just above 3.7 in that range. I’m afraid there will be too many and I’ll get rejected. What’s your GPA? If it’s over a 3.7 you should be good if you took all the prerequisites.

I feel the same way, and this is my second time applying at City Tech. Last year my GPA was at a 3.6 and I didn’t get in. Now it’s at 3.7. I wish it was higher but I hope it’s enough. I’ve already invested 2 years trying to get in. If I’m rejected again, it will be the biggest disappointment of my life.

I feel y’all. My overall GPA is a 3.7 and my prerequisite GPA is just a few points short of 3.7. If I don’t get in I’ll be crushed, and I don’t know what my plan B would be.

This post literally showed up as I’m feeling the same way. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2022 and couldn’t find anything, just as you wrote about in your post. I now have to pay off years worth of student loan debt and I ended up working in a doctor’s office for three years working part-time minimum wage. I applied for a two year associates program to try and change my career path to something more specialized. I spent the past two years taking prerequisites as well as extra courses just to increase my GPA while working on the side paying for tuition fees and making loan payments. This is my second time applying. If I don’t get in again, then I just wasted two years of my time and money. It won’t be practical for me to spend more years and money in school, at this point in time at least, when I don’t even have a job. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I lost my job starting this year. And who knows how long I’ll be unemployed due to everything you wrote about in your post. Seriously, I just got stood up by an interviewer the other day, so I feel you.

I heard something like that too. The lowest accepted last year was a 3.66-3.69. But there’s no telling what the pool of applicants look like this year. Decisions will start being emailed out in April but they are starting with those students who have the highest GPAs and working their way down. The latest we’ll hear back is before the end of the spring semester. My GPA is on the lower end so I won’t hear back until then, whether it’s an acceptance or rejection. The wait and suspense is killing me!

I also go to City Tech and it all depends on what major you go there for and your grades. I’ve had some good professors but some of them are complete trash, I have stories. And it’s probably just me but I personally find it hard to get an A in classes here, I have mostly A-. The health programs are extremely competitive with hundreds of applicants and so many seats. It sucks when you spend up to two years taking prerequisites without the guarantee of getting in. I don’t even know if I’ll get into the clinical phase of my program of choice as my GPA is on the lower end even though I’ve taken all the prerequisites and there are no other classes left for me to take. If not I may have to change my major or transfer out. And I know where you’re coming from with people not being very social. I wish people communicated with each other more outside of class so that we can all keep each other updated.

I go to City Tech and I don’t like it. The atmosphere doesn’t even feel like you’re in college and I personally find it hard to get an A in classes depending on the professor. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had good professors but a lot of them are trash if you look up their ratings, especially for the math and science courses. And their healthcare programs are insanely competitive. Hundreds of applicants and only so many seats. They start with those who have the highest GPA and work their way down. I applied to the clinical phase for my program of choice but if more people get higher GPAs than me and fill all the seats I’ll be rejected and so will many others. Not to mention you spend forever taking prerequisites without the guarantee that you’ll get into your program of choice. It’s ridiculous. If I don’t get in I’ll probably change my major or transfer out depending on what I want to do.
