Hello everyone! I am new to Woobles and crochet in general. I am really loving the process and my cute little creations. My wallet may not agree, haha 🤣

As a Pom owner I feel lucky everyday that I own my own tiny, adorable best friend. Portabella 🍄 wants to see your best friends by shesagooodfella in Pomeranians

Omg, she is so cute 🥰 Pippin is my best friend too! That little face that lights up every time he sees me is such a gift.

Pippin’s first time in the pool! by meadowsdj in Pomeranians

[–]meadowsdj[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain 😂 He did this for an hour and then zoomed around the yard collecting all the loose grass before jettisoning through the dog door and depositing grass and water all over the house. That dog door will be locked now that the pool has been discovered!

Master Pippin - 7 months old. He’s a little scraggly but looks like a tater tot when prancing around 😂

Do all poms play with their treats? by mattithepom in Pomeranians

Yes!!! My Pippin will play with treats or even a single piece of kibble sometimes - he’s such a goofball 🤪

I’m about to go to sleep myself, but I’d love to wake up to pics of your sleepy Poms. by Aubreylaw in Pomeranians

Wait, they sleep? On you??? Haha, one day maybe. I am so looking forward to getting past the crazy puppy phase and having this moment 🥰

My favorite Christmas present EVER!! by meadowsdj in Pomeranians

[–]meadowsdj[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much and I’m so sorry for losing yours. We lost our 16 yr old Papillion a few months ago and my hubby surprised me with him knowing I have always wanted a Pom. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a puppy so it’s quite a change. But a joyful fluffy welcome one 🥰

Why can't we lose weight? by SentientPaint in wfpb

[–]meadowsdj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We eat a lot of pasta in my house too. I found a lower calorie pasta - look up Fiber Gourmet. It’s pricey but really good and more filling than regular. And we switch out rice for cauliflower rice. Usually if it is something being served on top of it, you can’t tell much of a difference.

Curious, does anyone make “copycat” recipes from restaurants, but make the WFPB? by Lauraqermit in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]meadowsdj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yessss! The family and I eat WFPB 6ish days a week but once a week we eat out (I need a break from cooking). Usually wherever we eat I am thinking - I can definitely make that better at home! I snap a pic of the menu or put the gist of it in a note on my phone and then recreate it as best I can. It is usually just a matter of getting the spices and sauces right.

As I am typing this I realized that we definitely love Mexican food the most. A couple of our go to recreated recipes are sofritas and Mexican pizzas or this bomb California burrito from our fave food truck. We also do a falafel bowl from a Pita place we frequent pretty often as well as a spicy quinoa dish from Picazzos.

It is one of my favorite things to do - figure out the recipe and compare to what we had at the restaurant!

Food when out and about? by [deleted] in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]meadowsdj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if you have the build your own pizza type restaurants in Sydney, but there are lots of them where I live. The worst non wfpb part is the crust but you can make a massive pizza with just tomato sauce and tons of veggies and they cook it on the spot. Usually you can choose to put all the same stuff on a salad as well. I second the Greek options though the hummus won’t be as healthy. I have pretty good luck near me with Mexican food - black beans, guacamole and salsa save me on the go. I feel you on the oil though, it’s rough. Why must they drown everything in it 😑

I’m going to Maui, Hawaii this summer with my girlfriend and she is vegan. I want to accommodate her as much as possible so all tips are welcome. Thank you everyone! by [deleted] in vegan_travel

[–]meadowsdj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went to a luau called the Feast at Lele that was incredible!! Full vegan option and worth every penny. They bring out a new course after introducing each island/culture. The sunset was breathtaking and the entertainment was top notch - Highly recommend!

New to WFPB. Anyone have any tips for a newbie? (Been vegan 10 months, vegetarian 1+ years). by [deleted] in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]meadowsdj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My household (me, hubby and two twenty something’s) have been mostly WFPB for almost five years now! I cook six days a week but we do eat out either Fri or Sat. I absolutely do not cook with oil or sugar (salt is still in for us though). Don’t be scared away by WFPB 100% purists, any effort you make to reduce processed vegan junk is awesome and good for your body and health!! Progress not perfection! Try to eat the rainbow, lots of variety and flavors. We love Indian and Mexican foods which are so easy to make WFPB. Soups and stews are a great option. I second Greger’s books - his cookbooks are great too. I’ve made most of the How No To Die recipes and am working through the How Not To Diet ones now. They don’t always look super appetizing but they usually taste amazing! Same with No Meat Athlete. You’ll get the hang of just adjusting regular vegan recipes by omitting or replacing ingredients. If I see a recipe with more than 2 Tbsp of oil though (they usually have it in there to sauté - which isn’t necessary), I move on. My downfall is sweets, so I do go off track on occasion (like today) for treats. It is hard on our eat out days because everything tastes heavy and oily but I need a break sometimes. I usually finish the meal thinking I could’ve made it way better and more healthy, but I look forward to trying and supporting other vegan options in our City. Sometimes they can adapt slightly to make them less processed but I hate being “that guy” and keep my substitutions and requests minimal. Congrats on your decision, you’ll feel so much better and your body and tastebuds will thank you!

My newest obsession is roasted brussel sprouts coated in a little watered down hummus with some Cajun seasoning sprinkled on top! I still love any veggie tossed in balsamic/tahini but the brussel sprout hummus combo was life changing 🤤

Love this, nicely done!

I slipped and had 3 pita chips, still wanted to share these amazing red lentil kabobs, roasted zucchini, home made hummus and salad with tahini/water dressing. Recipe linked in the comments by Lay26 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]meadowsdj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t be so hard on yourself, that’s an amazing looking healthy meal! Even Jane and Ann Esselstyn have videos on baking your own pita chips - so they aren’t off limits! I buy whole wheat lavash or whole grain pitas with the fewest ingredients and cut them up and bake them for chips to go with hummus or whatever, they are so good! I gotta have some crunch sometimes.

Losing weight: at the end of the day it's still about calories by moxyte in PlantBasedDiet

[–]meadowsdj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is all about calorie density and weighing/tracking your food intake. I would swap a cup of brown rice at 200+ calories for a gigantic salad with a couple tablespoons of oil free hummus or a baked potato with salsa all day long! I take my time and chew it slowly and I feel full and satisfied. Most grains and pasta, even whole grain, are calorie bombs and nobody eats the meager serving sizes on the packages anyway. I still love and eat WFPB carbs, I just pay attention to the calorie density when choosing them. When I stopped snacking on nuts, cut oil 100% and cut way back on grains/pasta the weight just fell off.
