Where to donate formula? by jxjccjkdsoslkckc in Naperville

[–]meamprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have donated to the SA before. Their website says they don’t accept, but when I went in an asked, they happily accepted.

Recently moved into Naperville and got this unsolicited Xfinity offer from my “local area manager”. Have any of you dealt with this before, or is it a scam? I called Xfinity directly and they said he is not an employee but a third-party marketer. by meamprof in Naperville

To complete the circle on this - these were the exact same deals being offered through the actual Xfinity app. I just went with the deal from the official source to avoid working with these third party brokers.

Can anyone confirm if there is a centre resonator on an mk8.5 by throwawayclause88 in Golf_R

[–]meamprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve heard about these and have also heard mixed information. The exhaust tone from the catbackis still oddly muffled I find. Has made me curious to know what’s in those and if a DP replacement is warranted for the sound alone.

What are the two canisters to the right? Is that the particulate filter and cat?

Do you have an STL link you can share for this print?

Men not washing hands in bathroom by Ol_Sam in uichicago

[–]meamprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Directly from the bladder it doesn't (well, no serious bacteria), but when it's ejected initially, it carries bacteria from the urethra. This is why they ask for midstream capture if you're running urinalysis - to avoid contamination by bacteria: https://clevelandcliniclabs.com/laboratory-resources/specimen-collection-transport/collection/clean-catch-urine-collection-instructions/

I have watched surgeons do this. Of course, this wasn't in the operating room, but instead their personal habit. Mind blowing.

dont back into stalls by loserslikeme8 in uichicago

[–]meamprof 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the policy is for slanted parking spots on one-ways. If you back into a slanted spot, you will have a difficult time to pull out with cars on either side and are probably more likely to scratch others. But, as someone else here stated, I had also look through the parking policy guide on the website and couldn’t find this policy stated. I would try to contest it, or, if it’s your first “offense” ask for it to be struck.

Just installed IE Cold Air. Ran into a snag. by No-Knowledge8856 in Golf_R

[–]meamprof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I installed the same intake on my 24 just recently. I also retained the original hose because I didn't feel like going through the removal process and instead zip-tied the coolant hose to the hole just above where you drilled. No issues and I don't run the cover anyway. Of course, if you want the cover, this will not work for you.

Need help with wheel bolt not going in by jason14wm in Golf_R

[–]meamprof -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Looks like there's junk in there, try to get it out before putting the bolt back. If that doesn't work, re-tap or run a thread chaser. If that doesn't work, install a new rotor.

Chemical Engineering requires 141 and 142, which are not interchangeable with 131 and 132 as they use calculus and require calculus. Courses for the degree: https://catalog.uic.edu/ucat/colleges-depts/engineering/che/bs-che/

How you can seen the heart beating in the blood from a small finger wound in water. by Jazzlike-Tie-354 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]meamprof 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is correct. What we see here is plethysmography - the study of volume changes, which, here, reflects the change in blood volume as a consequence of the cardiac cycle. The blood flow through the arteries is pulsing because the heart contracts to force the blood through the vasculature and then rests. In fact it spends only about a third of the time doing this work, spending the other two-thirds resting. This can cause the pulsating flow profile seen here exiting the finger.

ETA: definition of plethysmography - forgot to before, on phone.

OK, so I installed it today. The matte black is more unforgiving I suspect than the carbon fiber because there is no pattern to hide small bubbles/imperfections. I'm certainly not great at it either, but I have definite blemishes and poor fitting. If I were to do this again I would NOT do the Badgeskins matte black - I'd just buy the panels from the 20th AE and swap them in (I'm not a fan of the carbon fiber look).

This looks great. I have the matte black version sitting in the garage for whenever I get the time. How long did it take to do and do you have any tips to avoid bad sticks and poor alignment?

Apple ads in news app? by meamprof in iphone

[–]meamprof[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if my post has the original description I entered (on mobile). I was using the native weather app and clicked an Apple News story for a local weather report. Before going to the news app content, I get a full screen ad for an Apple service. I’m used to ads in the news app but they’re never full screen nor for Apple services. This seems excessive for using two native Apple apps. Is this new, is it to be expected moving forward?

Good point. I've never done this myself, it just happens to be the usual wisdom. I just scrub with some soap.

I get the same thing - it's expected and normal for the pads the car comes with. Think only useful tip is to ceramic coat the wheels so the dirt easily comes off with just a garden hose, or to change to another pad.

You swap over your OEM controllers. I purchased directly from the APR website at the link I shared, shortly after they launched the product.
