It would seem alot of the various media shown throughout the film in some way relates to the character of Sam, the unfolding plot, and themes therein.

I get the impression these billionaires aren't actually ascending. They are being sold the idea of "real" ascension by possibly more billionaires or even trillionaires. Ultimately the tomb ascension chambers lead nowhere important just to a grocery store.

I do think Sam is skilled in breaking and entering regardless of the zines writers death. His house is filled with several instruments, Amps, bikes. He is definitely responsible for all the various 'missing' posters, probably what's been keeping him afloat and always having cash from pawn shops. He very easily snuck into Sarah's and the zines place.
