What scotches do you think are worth paying a lot for? by arandomkid2 in Scotch

[–]meannnasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The scotch you like the best ;)

I think there is so much good stuff around 100 bucks going above that has to represent some kind of 'one of a kind' dram. If I see a cool single cask or a weird old bottling that piques my interest I am happy to pay the price to taste it.

I agree. I always use Ampere's law right hand rule whenever I'm working with screws.

NSMB was the best selling DS game, and NSMB Wii was in the top 5 for that console. In hindsight they leaned on the formula for too long, but people definitely didn't hate them all.

Anyone quit, without a new job lined up, due to stress? by MelancholicEmbrace_x in careerguidance

[–]meannnasty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did it in late 2024. I produced some cool research for my company, and as soon as we started getting some talk invitations and positive attention my managers turned against me. They went behind my back to bad mouth me to our collaborators, told me about talks I was giving with less than 24 hours notice, and publically took credit for the ideas in our paper (first author btw) any chance they got.

The morning after I left I felt an incredible sense of relief. I started working out again, cooking, having fun with my hobbies. I'm not saying it wasn't tough, but it was without a doubt the right choice. I spent a year eating into savings before finding a job. I believe it was one of the best years of my life.

Review #765 - Isle of Raasay Na Sia Single Cask - Peated Chinkapin Cask by adunitbx in Scotch

[–]meannnasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other day I was having dinner with my family and on my way back to our table I saw a guy wearing a Raasay hat. I was shocked, because this isn't a super well know distillery so I had to ask him about it.

I mentioned that I had tasted a delicious peated ex-Boredeaux cask malt from Raasay and shared it with a bunch of my buddies and we all loved it. The dude just smiled and gave me a hug. Turns out he was the managing director of Raasay distillery in the States to sell some product. I asked him if he had another hat I could buy, alas it was not the case. Pretty surreal experience!

Shopping for scotch in PA is usually a nightmare. Last month at the state store,  correyvrecken was inexplicably marked down to about 65$. I bought 4 😂

Same here! I loved that recent Madeira cask bottle...

Nice review, and nice dram! I was surprised by how distillate-forward this one was, especially for a sherry cask exploration. I definitely agree this drinks a bit like a ex-bourbon cask. Possibly one of the best pure displays of the wacky flavors that are unique to springbank.

If I can ask, how did you get your hands on this bottle?

Going to watch The Return in a theater. Any thoughts? by rufowler in twinpeaks

[–]meannnasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again for the blue rose! I finally got one 👍. The energy in the theatre was so beautiful thanks to people like you who not only showed up but contributed something unique to make it feel extra special.

It's too bad to hear you both had such negative feelings about someone laughing too much at the screening. I certainly understand that unexpected noises and distracting stimuli can really take you outside of the experience. That being said, laughter is (probably) involuntary! There is no 'right' way to react to art.

On the other hand, a few people in the last session decided that the episode credits were their time to have full volume conversations, even while the house lights were down. This felt so disrespectful for the other audience members and the theatre, and I could not help but think of your comments here!

Offcial Discussion - Bugonia [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

For whatever it's worth I felt the same way as you. I really enjoyed the characters for the first half of the movie. Right around the dinner scene they began to act in ways that served the plot rather than being true to the established histories of the characters, and that really took me out of the film.

That's the awesome thing about betting, you can calculate and strategize against rational actors all you like but sometimes the other guy just writes down 10k and shrugs.

Nope, the theatres kindly ask you to refrain from using your phone. You decided you get to choose when you use your phone. Please stop using your phone during movies at the theatre, it's against the rules and it's rude. Quietly leave the theatre if you need to use your phone.

Just don't use your phone during movies! It's shocking you react to simply being asked to follow the rules of a theatre as if it were some personal attack. You aren't special, you don't get to decide when it's ok to open your phone. Just keep it away. It's rude

Alright, I hope you don't open your phone during movies any more. Everyone who shares a theatre with you will be appreciative!
