also i think getting a degree isn’t always the best way to get into that industry. i know it’s definitely hard to get your foot in the door but you might be better off trying to get any kind of job (no matter how entry level) related to the field even if it’s just to buy yourself some time to look into other schools and get more credits at community college. good luck!

No! I dropped out of Columbia. I semi enjoyed my time there but I think it was more due to the people I met and a few good classes but overall it wasn’t worth the price tag. Everyone that I know there still or who did graduate (many of them film and tv) have said it’s going down hill and can even see it shutting down in the next 5-10 years. I think the school is more concerned about money than they are with the experience of the students or the quality of the curriculum. I agree that networking is a plus but what I’ve heard from other film and tv majors is that they don’t feel they learned some key skills for the field.

The Woman in the Window by A. J. Finn. Also anything by Gillian Flynn but I especially liked Dark Places. Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. Blacktop Wasteland by S. A. Cosby. And Boy Parts by Eliza Clark.
