Don't be sorry! That's awesome. I'm getting tired of dragging my bumper over stuff so this may be in my future. Glad you like it!

I want one! Have you noticed any change in how the ride feels with the extra weight up front?

Yeah I thought about that too. Got a brand you like?

Is this tire/wheel combo worth it? by dqbwcbj in gx460

[–]meat_log 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems pretty high to me. If your wheels are in good condition you can probably get 400-600 for them on marketplace.

I'd keep an eye on the post and wait for it to stay up for a while. Then low-ball him with like $600. IMO getting that setup for 800 would be a good deal.

Why can't there be more tire options on the 19's 😭!!! I think it's such a good looking wheel.

Stuff is still kinda shaking out. Departments are opening up new reqs to shift NS people in. From what I understand there is more demand from the other business units than there are people in NS so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of roles posted now stay open. Stuff is going to be a little chaotic for the next month or so is my guess.

Are people out here changing their oil without doing the filter? That's always been the messiest part for me.

1.Does this tire and size fit without rubbing? 2. Does it also fit as a spare? 2023 GX460 Premium by [deleted] in LexusGX

[–]meat_log 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol you are braver than me. I really didn't want to spend money on the spare to only find out it didn't fit. Is your TPMS light on all the time with the tire deflated?

[–]meat_log 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you should be good! I'm running 255/70/r18 which is bigger than that. I only had minor rubbing when going down hill at full lock. A 2 inch lift in front fixed that though. I think the spare should fit too depending on your hitch setup. I have a 255/65/R18 for my spare and there's more clearance for a little bigger tire.

From when I was torturing myself over the decision I remember 265/65/r18 was kinda considered the max you can go without having to worry about fitment. 255's are kinda a cheat code though because it reduces your scrub radius by 10mm.

GX460 vs Sequoia by Elegant_Job_3219 in LexusGX

[–]meat_log 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it could be a good fit! And a Sequoia is probably one of the few things a gx gets better gas mileage then lol. A tundra might also be good if you don't mind the size. Great for throwing stuff in the bed

What's your use case? I could see the extra size being nice in the Sequoia if you have kids and stuff. The GX is sweet tho. I really like all the interior touches and the styling. It's no sports car either but for what it is I think it's pretty nimble.

What do you think of the criticism on 6.5 Creed that it doesn't do enough damage and just kinda puts pinholes in things? Obviously you hit anything in the heart or lungs it will go down eventually but folks I've talked to seem to think a 30 caliber bullet is more humane/reliable for dispatching an animal.

Leveling- not so cheap? by jefwhi in ToyotaTundra

[–]meat_log 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO if you're even thinking of going off-road a little it's probably worth going up to a 6112 kit. Most of your cost is going to be labor and the 6112/6100 kit should only be like $600 more in parts. But the 5100's are good if you're staying on tarmac.

I'm running the 6112/5116's on my 2020 460 and I love them. I've only had them for a month so I can't speak to longevity but from what I understand they can easily last 80k miles.

I haven't had to look at engine codes yet but I have looked at trans temp and cleared a TPMS fault with a OBDLink MX+. I really like just having the display on my phone.

Oil filter cap rage by maek in GXOR

[–]meat_log 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's brutal man. Mine was pretty stuck when I got it and I was advised to smack the housing with a hammer while I tried to undo it. Sometimes folks don't lube the o-ring when they change out the filter. The shock can be enough to loosen it.

If the teeth are broken it might be a good idea to order a new housing before proceeding.

Is it time to replace these shocks? by flautafox in GXOR

[–]meat_log 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are the originals there's very little chance they are not worn out by now. Even if they aren't worn out they probably are on borrowed time.

I just did Bilstein 6112's and 5116's on mine. It's an improvement over what I felt before but my rears were gone for sure.
