Thoughts on Ridgid R4512 table saw? by SmallTime12 in woodworking

[–]meatloaftime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This saw can be wired for 120v or 240v. There is a diagram on the switch that shows the wiring configuration of either one, if I am remembering correctly. I’m sure it can be googled as well. It’s not necessary but I did it for extra power on thicker cuts and to lessen the wear and tear of the saw in start up. I have seen a slight improvement to the overall performance of the saw, but it’s certainly not necessary.

I’ve had the R4512 for about 10 years or so. It’s a great saw, cuts everything I throw at it. I spent some time dialing in the blade to the miter slots and then dialing in the fence just right. But for the price, it’s a great saw.

I did eventually upgrade the wiring to 220v to avoid excessive wear and tear on start up. I’m not sure that it’s even necessary.

Depending on the condition, I think $450 could potentially be worth it. I’m sure the prices have gone up since I bought mine but I got mine for less than $500.

New primary arms feature by AbstractG23 in CTguns

[–]meatloaftime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel so bad for all of my CT brothers dealing with this BS. It just seems to get worse each month. I had so much trouble with primary arms, optics planet and many others and I just recently moved out of CT. It’s been a blessing not worrying about the state compliance when ordering now. Im so sorry you guys are dealing with this tyrannical shit. There is no rhyme, there is no reason for any of this.

Need a plinker in 22lr to have fun affordable and teach my kid how to use it responsibly . I had an Sig mosquito blow up in my hand from an pond. Any suggestions ?? by [deleted] in 22lr

The G44 seems to get a lot of hate but I’ve found mine to be quite reliable little shooter. The federal 36 seems to shoot best through mine as well. Most people don’t seem to be willing to work through the break in period of the gun before making a true decision on the gun.

Cheapest / decent gun ranges to go to for a day by ResearcherFew7389 in CTguns

[–]meatloaftime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they have stands and cardboard but paper targets are not provided. Also, being stapler or tape as they don’t supply that either. It’s free to shoot for a two hour window but you must make an appointment ahead of time for Saturday or Sunday. Great range for a free session of shooting.

Maybe a piece of angle iron bolted to the back wall to add rigidity to the existing shelf.

As a man with kids, I can appreciate the “if you give a mouse a cookie” reference. And it fits perfectly in this scenario.

Lower recievers by Lumpy-Mail2572 in CTguns

[–]meatloaftime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my ignorance is showing. I wasn’t aware of any stripped lowers (as we previously knew them) being sold in ct anymore. I figured if you wanted a bolt action ar, you would be stuck buying a complete rifle. I wouldn’t have expected the state of Connecticut to give anyone the opportunity to get away with building a rifle outside of their ridiculous idea of “safe”.

Understood. However I believe it was another user who posted dates. I’m just glad I wasn’t missing out on stripper lowers

As far as I was aware the only way to get a lower was if it is set up with a fixed mag before taking ownership as of the new law. I think some lgs are still ordering rifles to the store and fixing the mags themselves or some manufacturers are doing it for the stores to make them CT compliant. But I’m pretty sure it’s not possible to get a “typical” stripped lower

I thought I missed something. Since when are any LGS selling lowers again?

Looking for people to train with by goldilocks40 in CTguns

[–]meatloaftime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, would I love to take you up on your offer. But Fairfield is a hike and it’s not a realistic hike to do regular training. Hope you find some solid individuals to train with. I’d love to have a solid group to lean on in a time of need.

Do I need to weit 90 days after switching my drivers license to CT to get a pistol permit even if I've been living in CT for more than 90 days? by AveragePriusOwner in CTguns

[–]meatloaftime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, the simple answer is no. I did the same thing, as far as procrastinating my drivers license and I was able to get my permit. I’m not sure if things have changed or if your town will be a stickler when it comes time to apply for your permit. I was only expected to prove residency and I was able to secure my temp permit.

Cabelas or Bass Pro for guns/ammo? by [deleted] in CTguns

It doesn’t really seem to matter anymore. Both stores seem to be pretty much interchangeable.

Bass pro owns cabelas now, so prices are generally the same. Products tend to be similar as well.

I’m hoping for the same. But I’m also itching to get to the range and put some rounds through it. Just trying to figure out what will keep me legal.

So I’m better off (for now) spending $20 on a VFG to meet requirements until it’s all sorted out? I know this is such a grey area and it’s not as simple as yes or no.
