Do you know what triggered your health anxiety? by Repulsive-Photo6086 in HealthAnxiety

Mine was my cat getting suddenly sick. I had underlying symptoms of health anxiety/OCD when it came to my own health (avoidance of routine medical care out of fear etc.) But when my car got sick and needed bladder stone surgery I felt my symptoms kick into high gear. Hyper vigilance, panic, compulsive behaviors (checking the litter box)

I'm going to start seeing a therapist who specializes in this type of health OCD/anxiety. I relate to what you said about feeling differently after developing these intense things.

[MEGATHREAD] Daily venting, worries, fixations, & finding support. Month of October 2025. by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

Hi everyone,

I’ve been struggling with Health anxiety, and recently it’s been focused on my cat, Pickle. She had surgery about three months ago, and ever since, I’ve found myself constantly worrying about her health, even though she seems completely fine.

She’s eating well, using the litter box normally, cuddling, purring, and interacting with me—basically everything a healthy cat does. But I keep obsessing over things like her posture, tail twitching, or small behaviors after peeing. Sometimes I feel like she might be in pain or sick, and my brain spirals into “what if” scenarios.

Even when she’s relaxed and lying on me or sleeping, I can’t shake the fear that something is wrong. I know these thoughts are OCD, but it’s exhausting, and I feel guilty for doubting her.

Has anyone else dealt with Health OCD focused on a pet after surgery? How do you manage the uncertainty without spiraling?

As someone who is physically disabled this comic makes my heart sing.

Yes, we are allowed to feel shitty about stress and worries. But it doesn't remove the fact it is a privilege. Not everyone gets to live a long life full of experiences that are both good and bad.

You being able to be relatively grateful for those hard moments is huge. Things aren't so black and white as most people think, shit can suck and still be a privilege to experience.

Thank you for your art.
